International-Scale Festival, Jakarta Film Week 2021 Successfully Held for 4 Days

Kapanlagi.com - The international-scale film festival, Jakarta Film Week 2021, was successfully held by the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency of DKI Jakarta Province on November 18-21, 2021.

Vice Governor (Wagub) of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, said that film festivals are part of the ecosystem that needs to be built.

"Film festivals can complement the ecosystem, as well as a form of appreciation and education that has a significant contribution to the development of the film industry and is a real commitment of DKI Jakarta in building a film ecosystem to rise in the new order era post-pandemic Covid-19," said Ahmad Reza Patria.

1. Film 'Whether the Weather Is Fine'

In this event, Filipino director Carlo Francisco Manatad also gave his speech. Carlo is the director of the film 'Whether the Weather Is Fine', which is the closing film at Jakarta Film Week.

Previously, this film was first screened at the 74th Locarno Film Festival. Carlo revealed that each festival screening will definitely provide a different watching experience.

"I won't talk about anything regarding this film, I hope everyone can enjoy watching this film, and thank you," said Carlo.

2. Award Presentation

The event continued with the presentation of trophies to the winners of Jakarta Film Week competition. In its first year of implementation, Jakarta Film Week awards the Cakra Wahana Trophy (CSW) to the winners. This CSW trophy has its own meaning that is closely related to the image of Jakarta City.

"This trophy is inspired by the new icon of Jakarta City, which is the CSW Bridge. Cakra has the meaning of weapon and circle, while also taking from the element of CSW which has the name Indonesia Cakra Selaras Wahana," explained Andhika Permata, the Head of Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Department.

"Meanwhile, Kencana means gold, indicating that this award is the highest recognition given in Jakarta Film Week," he added.

3. Global Feature Award

Here is the list of winners of the competition films at Jakarta Film Week 2021. For the Global Feature Award category (best international feature film), it was won by Petite Maman by Céline Sciamma. With a special mention for Money Has Four Legs by Maung Sun.

For the Direction Award category (best Indonesian feature film), it was won by Dari Hal Waktu by Agni Tirta. With a special mention for Death Knot by Cornelio Sunny.

4. Global Short Award

For the Global Short Award category (best international short film), it was won by The Girls Are Alright by Gwai Lou. With a special mention for Diary Of Cattle by Lidia Afrilita and David Darmadi.

Another award, the Jakarta Film Fund Award, was won by Ringroad by Andrew Kose. With a special mention for One Night In Chinatown by William Adiguna. Congratulations to the winners. May it be a catalyst for the birth of future works.
