The story idea for the film LEMBAYUNG is based on the viral thread 'Jin Poli Gigi' on X (Twitter) written by Pica. At that time, Pica was still a nursing student.
The incidents that she wrote in the thread are true stories that she experienced with her friend Arum, when they were doing an internship at the Dental Polyclinic of a small hospital in Central Java.

The thread went viral in 2022. Eventually, Pica stopped writing, claiming to be traumatized by the terrifying experiences she often had. The screenplay for the movie LEMBAYUNG was written by Gemati Rahayu and Baim Wong.
LEMBAYUNG marks Baim Wong's debut as a director. This film is the second production of Tiger Wong Entertainment. Baim Wong stated that LEMBAYUNG will provide a fresh visual and horror story.
“This film will be a horror film that presents a unique story that has never been explored in Indonesian horror films. Recently, I and the entire crew and cast have been trying our best to present refreshing and different horror elements,” he said.
The movie LEMBAYUNG stars Arya Saloka, Taskya Namya, Yasamin Jasem, Oka Antara, Wulan Guritno, Anna Jobling, Paula Verhoeven, Daffa Wardhana, Erick Estrada, Ence Bagus, Tio Pakusadewo, Dayu Wijayanti, and Mario Maulana.
