Plaza Indonesia Film Festival 2020 Screens More than 10 Best Choice Films

Kapanlagi.com - The 8th Plaza Indonesia Film Festival (PIFF) takes on the theme of Colors of Love. There are a total of more than 10 best films from within and outside the country that have been selected to be screened at Cinema XXI Level 6, Plaza Indonesia from February 24th to 28th, 2020.

In addition to film screenings, there are various other events during the event period. Some of them include movie clinics, movie talks, and photo exhibitions.

"Now, as the only film festival in Jakarta and as the only mall that has a film festival, PIFF is committed to continuously presenting the best films from within and outside the country as a form of Plaza Indonesia's concern and appreciation for the film world and its stakeholders. We also offer various inspirational activities for the public. So it is hoped that PIFF will not only entertain, but also inspire creativity," said Zamri Mamat, General Manager of Marketing at Plaza Indonesia.

1. Best Films Featured at PIFF 2020

10 films that were screened were also selected very selectively. However, one thing to note is that these films have never been shown on the big screen in Indonesia before, such as Mountain Song (Indonesia), House of Hummingbird (South Korea), Monos (Colombia), The Science of Fictions (Indonesia), The Lighthouse, System Crasher (Germany), Honeyland (Macedonia), and many others.

For this latest edition, PIFF will also screen films by the legendary Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini. The goal is for PIFF to give appreciation to 100 years of Federico Fellini's work.

"Federico Fellini is a proud Italian director and screenwriter who has produced various quality films and has been an inspiration for filmmakers around the world throughout the years. Together with PIFF 2020, we will screen two of Federico Fellini's best films that are in line with the theme 'Colors of Love', namely La Dolce Vita and 8 1/2," said Maria Battaglia, representative of the Italian Cultural Institute.

"To complement the screening of these films, we are holding a behind-the-scenes photo exhibition of the film 8 1/2 that has never been published, and we will have a Movie talk with Annamaria Gradara, a journalist and curator of a weekly column about Federico Fellini in the Corriere di Romagna newspaper, Italy," she added.

2. Movie Clinic Directed by Top Indonesian Film Figures

Not only providing inspiration from abroad, but Plaza Indonesia will also provide inspiration from within the country through a movie clinic. Several senior figures in the Indonesian film industry will also be involved in giving lectures, such as Mira Lesmana (Producer), Riri Riza (Director), Joko Anwar (Director), Tara Basro (Actress), Chitra Subiakto (Fashion Director), and Ical Tanjung (Cinematographer).

The series of movie clinic events will be held at Atrium Level 4 and Disrupto Society, discussing the theme 'Dream Team', where these inspirational figures will share stories of how filmmakers can evoke emotions through color, costumes, and sound on the screen.

"With the consistency of PIFF, which has been held regularly since 2015 in providing inspiration to creative individuals in the film world, we hope to bring forth new figures and advance the Indonesian film industry to the international stage," said Sugar Nadia, the PIFF Film Curator.
