Release of 'TEPATILAH JANJI', Garin Nugroho Crafts Leadership Topics Elegantly

Kapanlagi.com - The General Election Commission (KPU) in collaboration with Asta Jaya Centra Cinema, Padi Padi Creative, and Garin Workshop has released a comedy-drama film titled TEPATILAH JANJI. This film, themed around regional elections, is directed by Garin Nugroho and stars Ibnu Jamil, Cut Mini, Shenina Cinnamon, Bima Zeno, Kevin Abani, Faradina Mufti, Givina Lukita, Siti Fauziah, and Trio Timus.

Garin Nugroho stated that this film reveals how leadership is tested by the ability to fulfill promises, both those stated in the constitution and personal visions for the welfare of citizens.

“This film is necessary for citizen education when politics loses its moral compass in guiding society so that the political process produces a healthy, critical, and productive civil society,” he expressed in a recent written statement.

KEEP THE PROMISE tells the story of Mrs. Pertiwi's family (Cut Mini) with her three children. Politics enters this family when her eldest son, Adam (Bima Zeno), is elected as the village head.

The local election that Adam participates in is filled with competition and the complexities of unethical political behavior. This situation brings various reactions from Adam's wife, Tari (Faradina Mufti), and his siblings, Isham (Kevin Abani) and Sekar (Shenina Cinnamon).

The story continues not only as a political drama but also evolves into a comedy and romantic drama. The love affair of Mother Pertiwi with Mr. Janji (Ibnu Jamil), which has yet to reach a conclusion, is further complicated by the euphoria of the villagers, political brokers, and the issue of political dynasties spreading to the village through social media mixed with village gossip. A tale that tests the processes, ethics, and behaviors of leaders and citizens in the approaching local elections.

Mochammad Afifuddin, Chairman of the KPU Commission for the 2022–2027 period, hopes that this film will provide political education to the community in an enjoyable way.

"The KPU wants our upcoming Pilkada elections to be held in a cheerful, joyful manner, and not to be frightening. Film media, cheerful media, we will use as a source of information so that everyone will be happy to then succeed in the elections and come to the polling stations on the Pilkada on November 27, 2024," he explained.

The film TEPATILAH JANJI will have a limited screening in cinemas across the country, as well as on several national television channels and OTT platforms. In addition, a traveling screening will also be conducted in public spaces, alternative screening rooms, and outdoor screens in various regions across the country.
