Starting to Be Shown in Theaters, Manoj Punjabi Hopes 'ASIH 2' Restores Confidence for Producers

Kapanlagi.com - The most anticipated horror sequel, ASIH 2, started airing in theaters on Thursday (12/24/2020). Manoj Punjabi, as the producer, stated that the exhibitor provided around three hundred more screens for the film. This number refers to the opening of two screens in several theaters.

Considering the release during the pandemic, Manoj expressed concerns about the presence of the audience. However, he hopes that the product offered can bring them flocking to the theaters and restore the producer's confidence in releasing a work.

"It's really important for us to release a film in such an uncertain position like this. Maybe not on the first day (the audience comes), but it can be consistent through word of mouth. My hope is that ASIH 2 can restore the confidence of all producers to release films in the future," said Manoj when met at Epicentrum XXI, Rasuna Said area, recently.

1. Not Sure Millions of Viewers

Usually Manoj Punjabi is very confident in predicting the number of viewers for his films. However, for ASIH 2 he doesn't dare to make a statement because the situation is currently impossible. Although hope will always be there.

"Usually I say 'Sure (millions of viewers)', but this time I don't know. Usually 'Can be a million, can be two million' there is still a basis, now I don't have any basis to say how many. What is certain is that I have the courage to release this film here," said Manoj.

2. Adopting a Child Brings Terror

ASIH 2 is the first Indonesian film produced during the pandemic and released during the pandemic as well. This horror film by Rizal Mantovani tells the story of a doctor named Sylvia (played by Marsha Timothy) who adopts a girl with no clear origin other than living in the wilderness.

When the child starts living in the house, Sylvia and her husband are terrorized by the spirit of a woman known as Asih (played by Shareefa Dhaanish). What is Asih's connection to the girl? Find the answer only in theaters!
