Terrifying, Anggika Bolsterli's Mouth Filled with Carrion-Eating Larvae

The movie poster titled GHIBAH produced by Dee Company and Blue Water Film, has been officially released on Wednesday (18/3). Anggika Bolsterli, who was chosen as the main character, looks terrifying in the poster. Her tongue is protruding and filled with carrion-eating larvae.

Looking at the GHIBAH poster, Anggika Bolsterli admitted to feeling disgusted herself. She hopes to learn from this meaningful film.

"I feel disgusted myself. In this film, not only the larvae are visible, but there is also the smell of carrion that follows people who gossip. Gossip, which I initially considered trivial, can actually have a big impact on the person being talked about. I am more self-aware after filming this movie," she said.

1. Inspired by the Quran

According to Riza Pahlevi, the scriptwriter, the film GHIBAH is inspired by the Quran, specifically Surah Al-Hujurat verse 12, which explains the act of ghibah (backbiting) as being compared to eating the flesh of one's own brother. In the film's story, he wants to emphasize the impact on both the perpetrator and the victim of ghibah.

"The perpetrator of ghibah may not realize the dangerous consequences of their actions. Hence, the visual representation becomes clearer in this poster. People often don't realize that they are backbiting, just like not realizing they are eating rotten flesh. Rotten flesh is full of maggots, that's why Anggika Bolsterli's mouth is depicted as being full of maggots," he explained.

2. Monty Tiwa's Hope

Meanwhile, Monty Tiwa, the director, expressed gratitude for completing the filming of the movie. He hopes that his creation not only serves as an entertaining watch but also as a guidance.

"I am grateful that the filming of this movie went smoothly and has been completed, unaffected by the coronavirus pandemic. Now we are entering the post-production phase. I hope the audience can feel a connection with each character in this film. Because ghibah is very relatable to our daily lives," he stated.

Besides Anggika Bolsterli, the movie GHIBAH also stars Verrel Bramasta, Zsa Zsa Utari, Arafah Rianti, Oppie Kumis, and Asri Welas. "Verrell has mostly played in romantic dramas. In this film, he will showcase a different performance," said Dheeraj Kalwani, the producer.
