The story begins with a struggle to save the soul of a young boy, leading them beyond anything they have ever seen before, and becoming the first case in US history where a murder suspect claims demonic possession as a defense.

The 8th film in the Conjuring Universe will still feature Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as Lorraine and Ed Warren. In addition, some young cast members also join the film, such as Ruairi O'Connor and Sterling Jerins.
