Trailer 'COMING 2 AMERICA' Released, the African Zamunda King Returns to the US

Kapanlagi.com - The sequel to the original film released in 1988 titled COMING TO AMERICA will once again greet its fans in 2021. This film, directed by Craig Brewer, will once again collaborate with the hilarious duo Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall to play in this film. In this second sequel, Murphy will continue his role as Prince Akeem Joffer from Zamunda, a fictional country in Africa. If in the first film it was told that Akeem went to New York to find his love, this time he and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) will search for Akeem's child.

The film is set when Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is preparing to become king. Then he finds out that he has a son named Lavelle, played by Jermaine Fowler. Lavelle himself is the result of a relationship between Akeem and a woman named Queens, played by Leslie Jones. Therefore, he is determined to find his child, along with his trusted companion Semmi, they will embark on a hilarious and heartwarming adventure in New York City. COMING 2 AMERICA will be starring Kiki Layne, Tracy Morgan, Rick Ross, and Wesley Snipes.

The cast of the first film such as Shari Headley, Paul Bates, John Amos, and James Earl Jones are also reported to be reprising their roles in the film. Not only the artists who collaborated in this film, but also the filmmakers reunited in the second sequel COMING 2 AMERICA. Screenwriter Kenya Barris was trusted to rewrite the story of this film along with Barry Balustein and David Sheffield who will also be involved in scriptwriting. The collaboration between Eddie Murphy and Craig Brewer is not the first time. Previously, they worked together on a film titled DOLEMITE IS MY NAME.

“After several years of waiting, I am proud to say that the film COMING TO AMERICA 2 will officially be produced. (For that), we have formed a great team, led by Craig Brewer, who did an amazing job in DOLEMITE IS MY NAME and I look forward to bringing all the characters back to the screen,” said Murphy

In the first sequel COMING TO AMERICA was directed by John and teamed up with David Sheffield and Barry W. Blaustein to become the writers in the film. COMING TO AMERICA was able to rank third in the category of films with the highest profit in 1988. This film was able to earn around Rp1.7 trillion in 1988, a value that can be considered quite high at that time. Building on the success they have achieved, the filmmakers of this film want to achieve that achievement again. Looking back at the previous journey that made many people laugh with the funny actions presented by Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, will they be able to invite laughter from their audience again in the sequel? COMING 2 AMERICA will premiere on Amazon Prime on March 5, 2021.
