Kapanlagi.com - Romantic relationships do not always go smoothly. Differences often create divides, not just in terms of religion, but also various other factors that are hard to express in words. Sometimes, the differences feel stronger than love itself.
The excerpt above illustrates the surrender to love that must come to a halt due to differences. Alika, a young singer and newcomer in the Indonesian music industry, expresses these feelings in her debut single titled “We Are Different.”
“This song represents my feelings as well,” said Alika, or Tiara Alika Shafira, honestly. This is what makes her interpretation while singing “We Are Different” feel deep and touching.
“I chose this song because it relates to the lyrics. At that time, I was experiencing it too… as time goes on, he goes there, I come here. It turns out, according to him this is good, but for me it’s not. There are many aspects that can make a relationship unable to last. Differences are not just about religion, but also different thoughts and goals,” Alika explained.

Alika believes there are many couples out there who are experiencing similar things. “Surely many can relate,” she added. Through “We Are Different,” Alika shows her seriousness in creating, even though she had doubts when starting. Her label assures her that she has great potential as a professional singer.
The two musicians behind this song, Iyas Pras from the group Ecoutez and Anggi Anggoro, also affirm that Alika deserves to be launched. For a month, Alika and the two musicians conducted a workshop to work on this song, where Alika also contributed to the creative process.
When she first received the demo of “We Are Different,” Alika admitted that the song was still half-finished. “I tried to guess the melody myself, there was no guide,” she recalled. With the help of Iyas and Anggi, she perfected the melody to better fit her character.

Another challenge faced by Alika is the interpretation of her song. To match her style, Iyas and Anggi changed the lyrics and melody spontaneously several times.
“The mix and match process is quite challenging for me,” she said.
For Alika, the most important thing is to feel comfortable while singing it, and she hopes the song is also pleasant for many people to listen to.
“Alhamdulillah, I am satisfied with the result. I never imagined that the final outcome would be so cool!” Alika expressed proudly.
The song “Kita Berbeda” was crafted with string touches from Ava Victoria and collaboration with other talented musicians, as well as involving Anggi in the mixing and mastering process.
