Kapanlagi.com - Continuing the success of their collaboration with Dian Sastrowardoyo on their previous single Serenata Jiwa Lara, Diskoria music collective, known for the DJ duo performance of Merdi Leonardo and Fadli Aat, has released a new collaborative work. This time, Diskoria collaborates with Afifah Yusuf, a young soloist who is the daughter of Hetty Koes Endang.Diskoria and Afifah Yusuf recycle a song titled Pelangi Cinta which was previously sung by the Mother in the 80s.The song is released under the Suara Disko label.
Originating from an Instagram Story Post
This collaboration started from a Diskoria Instagram Story post that played a vinyl record of a song by Hediek's Group, a vintage pop vocal group that Hetty Koes Endang was a member of.That became the trigger for a further conversation about music between Diskoria and Afifah, as not many people are aware of that album.
Has an Emotional Touch
The song Pelangi Cinta was finally deemed suitable to be recycled by Diskoria and Afifah Yusuf. The song was composed by A.Riyanto and was first popularized by Jamal Mirdad in 1981. A year later, this song was performed again by Hetty Koes Endang.
"Besides Pelangi Cinta having an emotional touch for me because it was once sung by an inspirational figure in my life, both melodically and conceptually, this song is very suitable as an introduction song for the collaboration project with Diskoria. Like a gem, this is a hidden gem that deserves to shine again," explained Afifah Yusuf.
The Production Process of Pelangi Cinta
This single production process was done by Diskoria themselves with the help of Imam Buana Luthfi and Pandji Dharma, two musicians who were once part of the electronic group, Animalism.
"During the production process, everything went quite naturally. A pleasant surprise was when the original singer herself, Hetty Koes Endang, attended the vocal take of this song. There was no pressure for differences in interpretation of this song, which ultimately made us more confident. Another interesting thing is that there were some lyric adjustments recommended by her, because the original song was made from a male perspective, so for the version sung by a woman, we slightly changed the arrangement of the lyrics to make it sound more feminine," explained Diskoria.
Diskoria and Afifah Yusuf hope that their latest collaboration work can become a fresh treasure trove of disco pop songs in the Indonesian music industry. Pelangi Cinta can be proof that the baton of previous pop music can still be enjoyed by today's young people, and of course as an uplifting song in times like this.
Not only in terms of music, an interesting aspect of this release is the collaboration in the making of the music video. Diskoria and Afifah Yusuf entrusted Indonesian music legend, Fariz Roestam Munaf, to showcase his other side of creativity. They see Fariz Roestam Munaf as an artist, whose work has been heard in audio form, it would be very interesting to see Fariz Roestam Munaf's vision from a visual perspective.
The result of the music video directed by Fariz Roestam Munaf can already be seen through the Suara Disko YouTube channel. Check it out below, KLovers!
