Kapanlagi.com - The music and visual art creation contest entitled Dare To Be The Next Superstar (DTBTNS) Season 2 has entered the judging phase.Hundreds of works from both music and visual art categories have arrived at the jury's table since registration closed on March 14, 2022.In addition to the high interest, the works of DTBTNS Season 2 participants are considered increasingly interesting, varied, and of high quality.
Supermusic representative Nathaniel W Utomo said that in the judging phase, there will be a selection and curation process of participants' works by the jury consisting of Rekti Yoewono, Ronald Steven, and Nadia Yustina in the music category, as well as Oom Leo, Popo Mangun, Hana Madness, Bunga Fatia, and Streoflow in the visual art category. From the hundreds of works by the finalists, they will be curated and will participate in coaching sessions with experts in each category.
“We appreciate every work that has been submitted to participate in DTBTNS Season 2. Although the submission process was extended due to the pandemic situation, it actually resulted in more interesting and high-quality works in each category. We hope that the judging process with the experts can provide various positive insights for the finalists,” said Nathaniel.
High hopes for the finalists were also expressed by Rekti Yoewono or Rekti The SIGIT, who was appointed as one of the judges in the music category.According to The SIGIT's vocalist, the increasingly varied works from the finalists are expected to bring a breath of fresh air to the future of Indonesian music.

Rekti said that these talented young musicians need to be continuously encouraged to be more widely known and have the opportunity to develop.
“The increase in the number of submissions may be due to the increasing courage of music enthusiasts to showcase their works. I think that's a good thing, especially in DTBTNS Season 2, the works are becoming more varied. As far as I remember, DTBTNS last year was dominated by pop, pop punk, and rock music. This year, I noticed that there are many metal bands, even electronic music,” said Rekti.

Rekti added that the increasingly diverse and high-quality works in Dare To Be The Next Superstar Season 2 have made the judges more challenged and extra selective in curating the best works from the best. It is undeniable that there will be a lot of debate among the judges.
“It's quite challenging for judges, it seems. I try my best not to be biased towards the music genres that I like. Fortunately, there are many interesting talents that have the potential to be enjoyed by the audience, regardless of their music genre,” said Rekti.

The same was expressed by Oom Leo, who was a judge in the visual art category. The man whose real name is Narpati Awangga admitted that he had to drain his energy and mind when judging visual art works that were above average in quality.
“The enthusiasm of the participants is extraordinary. Many of them are quite attention-grabbing in terms of technical, conceptual and artistic aspects that are amazing. Not just one or two works, many of them make me overwhelmed in choosing the champion candidate for DTBTNS Season 2,” said Oom Leo.

During the judging phase, in addition to the curation process, there will also be a coaching session where the judges will share their knowledge and experience with the DTBTNS Season 2 finalists. Rekti and Oom Leo have prepared their material so that this session will be stimulating and provide the finalists with the tools to develop themselves and their work.
In the upcoming coaching stage, Rekti will personally emphasize performance because it is an important point for a performer. Starting from how to present oneself on stage, to how to communicate effectively with the audience. If Oom Leo tends to focus on the initial process of creating a visual art work.
"Deepening the concept and basic idea of creating a work. As for technical matters, it seems that not much needs to be explored further. Because the average skill of the finalists is already very good," added Oom Leo.

Meanwhile, a duo from Jakarta named Wantang, one of the participants in the music category, said that DTBTNS Season 2 is the right event for new musicians to become the next rising star. According to the music group consisting of Bintang Gemilau and Ridwan Hafidz, DTBTNS is a platform for aspiration, communication, and expression for young artists, especially in the fields of music and visual art. Moreover, the list of judges is competent in their respective fields.
"I salute the DTBTNS event because musicians need a platform to showcase their work. Supermusic as the organizer also evaluates the participants as a whole package, from their work itself to how they perform live. In this event, Wantang wants to revive RnB through our work, with its distinctive feature of having rap parts in every song inspired by K-Hip Hop and K-RnB," said Bintang.
