Jazz Gunung Burangrang 2024, Dul Jaelani to Elvi Sukaesih Warm Up Cold Bandung

Kapanlagi.com - The inaugural Jazz Gunung Burangrang was successfully held at Dusun Bambu, Lembang, Bandung, West Java. Thousands of spectators filled the venue since the afternoon, enjoying jazz music performances on 4 stages, Saturday (19/10).

A total of 15 performers graced Jazz Gunung Burangrang, from the White Room Jazz Community, Sokhi, to Elvi Sukaesih. The cold air of Lembang did not deter the audience; instead, they swayed to the jazz rhythm, warming up the atmosphere.

1. Different Concept

Unlike the previous Jazz Gunung series, Jazz Gunung Burangrang carries a different concept. The spacious venue led Jazz Gunung to decide to split the venue into 4 different stages, namely Rindang Berdendang, Gending Ngibing, Senyap Berirama, and Rongga Budaya.

At the Senyap Berirama stage, the audience enjoys music through headphones provided by the organizers. Meanwhile, at the Gending Ngibing stage, the audience is invited to enjoy music with the beautiful views of Lembang. The main stage, Rindang Berdendang, is located amidst lush and serene trees with a fairly large stage.

"These four stages are to appreciate this extraordinary venue. So it seems a waste to have just one stage. So we wanted to have four stages," said Bagas Indyatmono, Director of Jazz Gunung Indonesia, during a press conference before the concert began on Saturday (19/10)

2. Jazz Burangrang Warms Up the Evening in Lembang

Starting at 3:00 PM, several performers opened the Jazz Gunung Burangrang event on three stages simultaneously. On the Rongga Budaya stage, the event was opened by the Komunitas Jazz Putih, while on the Gending Berdendang stage, it was opened by Sokhi, and on the Rindang Berdendang stage, there was a performance by Sambasunda.

The lively music from Sokhi made the audience sway and dance along. This group from Jakarta calls their music circus band and succeeded in making everyone hum along to the rhythm. Meanwhile, Sambasunda captivated the audience with a beautiful blend of jazz and distinctive Sundanese music.

As the evening progressed, the audience at the Gending Ngibing stage was entertained by Earsun, Arumtala, and Aib Show. On the Senyap Berirama stage, there were performances by Benn Yapari, Nadine Adrianna, and Arnando Putra & Frank Pattinasarany.

Meanwhile, on the main stage, the audience enjoyed beautiful songs from Tohpati Ethnicommision. The melodies from this renowned Indonesian guitarist created an even more poignant atmosphere at Jazz Gunung Burangrang.

3. Vina Panduwinata Performs Energetically

Looking beautiful in a black and white outfit, Vina Panduwinata invited the audience to dance with her hit songs. Opening her performance with the song Didadaku Ada Kamu, this legendary singer made the chilly evening feel warmer.

In between her performances, Vina greeted the audience in a strong Sundanese language. At Burangrang, she performed several songs by Bandung artists that she is very proud of.

Vina was accompanied by FI(e)RY, a young band that inspires her to continue creating. After Didadaku Ada Kamu, Vina continued her performance with Logika, Dia, Cinta, Surat Cinta and closed with Aku Makin Cinta, which made all the audience sing along.

4. Dul Jaelani Performs Dewa 19's Song

Dul Jaelani became one of the most anticipated performers at the inaugural edition of Jazz Gunung Burangrang. He performed with the band Dewa 19 Experience and sang songs from the legendary Indonesian band.

In total, there were 13 songs performed by Dul on the Gending Ngibing stage. Starting from Arjuna Mencari Cinta, Madu Tiga, Kangen, Pupus, to Cinta Kau dan Dia, which made all the audience sing along together.

"The performance of Dewa 19 Experience was permitted by my father, both as a father and as a fellow artist. Alhamdulillah, there was no need to pay royalties," said Dul after the performance.

"It turns out the girls from Bandung are all beautiful. But the most beautiful is still Tissa Biani Azzahra," said Dul while blowing a kiss to Tissa who was accompanying him by the side of the stage.

5. Danilla Appears Enchantingly

On the main stage, Danilla Riyadi looked beautiful in a blue dress with half-open sleeves. The cold weather in Lembang did not stop Danilla from wearing warm clothes, and she was very enthusiastic.

In total, there were 8 songs performed by Danilla on the Rindang Berdendang stage, starting from Berdistraksi, Buaian, Sarwa, Senja Nusa, Dan Bandung, Tak Maka Dari Itu, Wahai Kau di Sana, and closing with Senja Pilu.

6. Elvy Sukaesih Celebrates 60 Years New

Elvy Sukaesih and The Bandung Orkestra closed the inaugural edition of Jazz Gunung Burangrang. Opening the performance with the song Gula-gula, the 73-year-old singer appeared energetic in an outfit of pants and a tiger-patterned jacket.

There were no special preparations made by Elvy even though she had to collaborate with The Bandung Orkestra. They did not rehearse in person, but only utilized online media to align the songs and rhythms.

"There were no special preparations, everything is in the hands of Allah. I can only be grateful for all that I receive. We didn't have rehearsals, I just received the songs, but hopefully we can collaborate in other genres as well. This is the first time at Jazz Gunung, I'm very happy," she said.

The singer, who just celebrated 60 years in the Indonesian music scene, also brought a special backing vocalist, Dawiyah, her biological daughter who happened to have an event in Bandung as well. They managed to duet together and made the cold night feel warmer.
