Keep Preserving Keroncong Langgam, Indra Utami Tamsir Releases New Album

Kapanlagi.com - Indra Utami Tamsir, or affectionately known as IUT, never stops being enthusiastic about preserving the Keroncong Langgam culture, which has fewer and fewer enthusiasts. In order to introduce this music to the millennial generation, the Best Keroncong Singer AMI Award 2013 has released a new album.

The album, named DEWANGGA SUTRA, contains 9 new songs, 7 of which were written by IUT herself. As for the notation and arrangement, the singer born in Blora was assisted by her friend, Budi L Tandang.

"Dewangga refers to the gods, meaning we all have divine light. Each of us has a mission to bring God's light. Sutra is a precious material. Something delicate and expensive, keroncong is expensive, noble, cool. It means it should be valued," said IUT during the online album launch on Saturday (8/7) yesterday.

1. In the Midst of the Pandemic

DEWANGGA SUTRA was actually created thanks to the pandemic. Due to reduced performance schedules and rarely leaving the house, IUT had a lot of time to create songs. Initially, he only wanted to release a song, not an album.

"Finally, I asked for help from Mas Budi to create a song. I had the song lyrics, and as a result, there were several songs, up to 9 songs. It was not planned because I had not found the next generation of keroncong, and I wanted to perform again. I wanted to be behind the scenes. After this, I want to create a young generation who loves keroncong," he said.

2. Support from the Government

IUT continues to find various ways to make langgam keroncong music more popular among the millennial generation. One of them is support from the government.

"First, production is very minimal, secondly, because major media outlets are not interested in keroncong music. I want to involve state-owned enterprises with large funding, but once again, there is no funding at the end of the year. I am moving forward alone, even though the government is busy with other matters. I am sincere and believe that the government can see that keroncong culture can be noticed," he concluded.
