In the midst of the withdrawal of dozens of musicians due to the controversy surrounding the sponsorship of PT. Freeport Indonesia, singer Kunto Aji chose to still take the stage at Pestapora 2025, Saturday (6/9/2025). However, his performance was not just an ordinary show, but rather a platform for oration that revealed the victory of the artists.

Kunto Aji, who performed on the Sat Set Stage, did not waste any time. After performing the songs "Jakarta Jakarta" and "Perjalanan Menawar Racun," he immediately greeted the audience and acknowledged how complicated the current situation was.

"A day that is not easy for all of us. For my fellow musicians, for the organizers, you all who have come, still present today. What happened, no one wanted that to happen," said Kunto Aji from the stage.

"There is anger, disappointment, sadness, but the clear thing is one, we must hold on to not let this divide us. Don’t let this issue make us attack each other. Our enemy is still the same," he asserted.

The biggest surprise came when Kunto Aji gave his stage to representatives from Music Declare Emergency Indonesia, a movement concerned with the climate crisis that he is part of. He called Gina and Endah from the duo Endah N Rhesa to deliver an important announcement.

Gina, representing the concerned musicians, expressed that they have been working behind the scenes. After learning that PT. Freeport Indonesia was a sponsor, they immediately met with the Director of the Pestapora Festival, Kiki Aulia Ucup, to urge the cancellation of the partnership.

"We are here with musicians and also Ms. Endah, gathered together last night. Meeting Pestapora. Urgent. PT Freeport cannot be at Pestapora. And we greatly appreciate Mas Ucup's decision and openness to listen to us and cancel the partnership with PT Freeport," explained Gina.

The decision of Pestapora to cancel the sponsorship became the main reason for Kunto Aji and several other musicians to continue performing. For them, this is a significant victory that shows the power of artists' voices when united.
