Sheryl Sheinafia Tells the Story of Petra Sihombing's Involvement in the Song 'Okay'

Kapanlagi.com - Sheryl Sheinafia has just released her latest single titled 'Okay'. This song was created by Sheryl Sheinafia together with Petra Sihombing last year but was only released now. Sheryl Sheinafia also tells the story behind the making of this song, which the lyrics were written at rapper Ariel Nayaka's house, who is her neighbor.

"So, the funny thing is, I didn't go to Petra first. I went to Ariel Nayaka. He's actually my neighbor. Our houses are really close, within walking distance, and I just found out," said Sheryl Sheinafia during a virtual press conference on Monday (6/7).

"When I went there, both of us were experiencing the same thing where we couldn't write songs, and then suddenly, because we were thinking about it, I started playing some chords and wrote the lyrics smoothly. Only then did I bring it to Petra," she continued.

1. Many Helped Petra Sihombing

After that, Sheryl Sheinafia invited Petra Sihombing to collaborate in producing the song 'Okay'. However, Petra Sihombing still gave Sheryl Sheinafia the freedom to make this song as she wished.

"I also wrote the lyrics and the music production was done by Petra. We didn't just make the song and then hand it over to be worked on. There will definitely be stages where we meet and so on," she said.

"Petra basically doesn't control my works. He gives me the freedom to truly explore where I want to go. So we are very experimental here," she explained.

2. Wants to Show Her Vocal Quality

Not only wanting to produce good lyrics and music, Sheryl Sheinafia also wants to show her better vocal quality in the song 'Okay'.

"I feel like in this song, I can really show the quality of my voice. Because we can't separate this song from its technical aspects and others, but it's the story that makes me want to stick with it. The music has to be like this, and I feel like it's just right," concluded Sheryl Sheinafia.
