Young Pianist of Indonesian Descent from England with a Heap of International Achievements Holds a Concert in Jakarta

Kapanlagi.com - Young pianist of Indonesian descent from England, George Harliono, held a concert titled An Afternoon with George Harliono at the Jakarta Theater Building, Taman Ismail Marzuki on June 11, 2023. In this concert, George Harliono was accompanied by the Jakarta Concert Orchestra led by Avip Priatna.

"I can't wait to make my debut performance in Jakarta, especially in this performance where I am accompanied by a renowned orchestra, the Jakarta Concert Orchestra, led by the leading maestro Avip Priatna," said George Harliono in a press conference at Kertanegara Recital Hall, South Jakarta, on Friday (9/6/2023).

"Uniquely in this concert, there will be a harmonious blend between the orchestra and the choir performed by the Batavia Madrigal Singers," added George Harliono.

An Afternoon with George Harliono is George Harliono's debut concert in Jakarta. It is known that the 22-year-old pianist has performed several times in several countries, such as England, the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Therefore, George Harliono hopes that through the concert An Afternoon with George Harliono, he can inspire many people and help preserve classical music.

"I hope that through the music we perform, we can inspire the audience to help preserve classical music," he concluded.

This concert is also to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninoff, a legendary Russian composer, pianist, and conductor in the 20th century," said Avip Priatna, Music Director of The Resonanz Musik and Conductor of the Jakarta Concert Orchestra (JCO).

2. International Achievements

In this concert, the Jakarta Concert Orchestra will accompany George Harliono to play three songs, namely Overture "Leonore" No. 3 in C Major, Op.72b by Ludwig van Beethoven, Choral Fantasy in C Minor, Op.80 which is also a work by Ludwig van Beethoven and the last song is a work by Sergei Rachmaninoff entitled Piano Concerto No. 2.

George Harliono, a talented pianist of Indonesian descent from England, has international reputation and achievements. Since the age of 9, George has been invited to perform in a one-hour solo recital. Since then, George has received many invitations to perform in various places in England, the United States, Europe, and Asia.

George has won various awards in competitions around the world, including The Grand Piano Competition in Moscow, Sendai International Music Competition, Royal Overseas League Music Competition in London, and others.
