Didn't See the Train Coming, Inova Car Crashes into Pertamina Tank Train

Kapanlagi.com - Another accident has occurred, this time a Toyota Innova car suffered serious damage after colliding with a Fuel Oil (BBM) Tank Train in Malang, East Java. The car's body was severely damaged after the collision and was dragged for tens of meters from the location.

An eyewitness revealed that the car was turning right from Halmahera Street towards Comboran or Irian Jaya Street. However, the driver allegedly did not see that the train was moving backwards towards the Pertamina Depot from the North.

As a result, the car driven by Prayitno suffered a strong collision and was pushed back several meters. The car was severely damaged after being dragged in front of a shop on the edge of the road.

1. All Passengers Safe

The driver of the car without any other passengers was in a safe condition. Prayitno experienced shock and received help from nearby residents.

"I saw him trying to get out of the car. Then I approached, he was just in shock but the car was wrecked, the door came off," said witness Arie Subekti, a local resident at the scene of the incident, on Sunday (17/4).

2. Shouted At

The daily KA BBM Pertamina passes through the intersection around the location. Around the railway line, many people have been active in selling used goods.

The community claimed to have shouted at the victim, but did not hear and the car continued to turn and move. "I wanted to go east, towards Comboran. No one stopped me, they didn't hear, the train was moving backwards," said Prayitno, the Innova driver.

3. Officials Did Not See

Prayitno, who is a resident of Sumbermanjing Wetan, Malang Regency, claimed to have seen two people guarding the road. However, the officials did not see the vehicle he was driving, so they did not stop him.

"Earlier when they were directing traffic, maybe they did not see it from this direction. But there were two people directing, left and right. They did not see the train from there, focusing on the road," he said.

4. Due to Negligent Driver

Meanwhile, Lukman Arief, Public Relations Manager of Daop 8 Surabaya, confirmed the incident and the case is being handled by the Malang Kota Police Department. Arief emphasized that the incident was a Traffic Accident caused by the negligence of the car driver.

"Because the railway line must be sterile from any object or activity. It is regulated in Law Number 23 of 2007," he said firmly.

As a result of the incident, people crowded around trying to witness the vehicle evacuation process. The accident is currently being handled by the Malang Kota Police Department.
