The search for debris from Lion Air JT 610, which crashed in the waters of Tanjung Karawang, is still ongoing. This time, the turbine engine of the ill-fated aircraft has been found and retrieved from the sea.

The debris from this engine has provided some clues about what happened to the flight that killed 189 people.

The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has found indications of the state of the aircraft's engine moments before it crashed into the sea. It was stated that the aircraft's engine was still running when it touched the water.

"The engines were running at a high RPM when they touched the water," said the head of the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) Soerjanto Tjahjono during a meeting with the families of the Lion Air crash victims at the Ibis Hotel, Jakarta, on Monday (5/11) as reported by Liputan 6.

Not only that, the investigation revealed that the engines were running at high speed when they touched the sea water. This also refutes the argument that engine failure was the cause of the accident.

"The findings of the engine parts indicate that both engines were operational with high RPM. The engines were running at high speed when they touched the water," he added.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Hopefully, it can be resolved as soon as possible.
