Even now, his expertise in the field of MUA has resonated to the international stage. But of course, the success achieved by Alif was not obtained instantly.
Alif Zarathuza's story of becoming an international MUA is almost like a regular electronic cinema that appears on television screens. Long before he succeeded in becoming an internationally renowned MUA with various business branches, Alif was a student from a village in Bali.
When met in South Jakarta recently, armed with a prestigious scholarship, Alif tried his luck to study in the Theater Arts department at the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta in 2012. Born on May 9th, this man experienced the bitterness of being a student away from home in the city of gudeg without a steady job and financial support from his parents, Alif was determined to survive in Yogyakarta.
"If you don't have money, just pack your belongings. Tomorrow someone else will occupy your room," said Alif while reminiscing about the time he was kicked out of his boarding house in the middle of the night.
Although he had to live and sleep on campus, it did not make Alif resign to his situation. Armed with determination, Alif tried his luck in the world of make-up effects in 2014, and of course Alif's journey in fulfilling his role as a make-up artist was not easy, he even willingly did not get paid in order to gain many connections.
Until finally, his efforts paid off and Alif tried his luck in Jakarta and joined several major film production houses. After two years in the film production industry, Alif felt that the ecosystem of the film industry was no longer profitable.
"I felt that the demand for make-up effects in feature films decreased. So I changed direction to learn make-up skills that are in higher demand," he said.
After that, Alif decided to return to Yogyakarta and rebuild his entire business from scratch. At that time, he took on various jobs, from being an MC to being a paid audience member.
Long story short, all the hard work that Alif put in started to pay off when he was asked to be a speaker for make-up effect training for specialist doctors in Indonesia. In the end, Alif also managed to establish his name as a professional make-up artist in Yogyakarta.
This 14th sibling finally managed to break all the negative stereotypes about himself. Not only successful as an internationally recognized make-up artist, Alif also successfully started a renowned wedding organizer business in the Island of the Gods.
In addition, Alif has been trusted to become the hair stylist for Miss Supranational Malaysia 2022, the hair stylist and make-up artist for the 21 Finalists of Man Of the Years International, and the Model Of the Year for Putri Bali 2022.
"I am grateful to be at this point, being able to create a comfortable home for my child and support my siblings. It is something that years ago was just a dream," he concluded.
