The latest event took place at the IPB Vocational School in Bogor on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with the theme "Viral or Verified? Navigating Truth on Social Media."

This theme encourages students to be more critical in facing the overwhelming flow of information on social media and to distinguish between content that is merely viral and information that has been verified. In a session led by Adyaksa Vidi, a journalist and fact-checker at Liputan6.com, the importance of fact-checking in maintaining the quality of information amidst the flood of digital content was discussed.

He emphasized that in the era of social media, information can easily spread without adequate verification processes, thus potentially causing misinformation. Through this session, students were invited to be more critical in consuming information, to understand the importance of verifying sources, and to cultivate the habit of not immediately trusting circulating content without prior verification.

Meanwhile, in the next session, Eko Setiawan, Social Media Manager of KapanLagi Youniverse, invited students to understand the dynamics of content performance on social media and the importance of the right communication strategy in reaching the audience.

He explained that the success of a content is not only determined by its virality, but also by the relevance of the message, understanding of algorithms, and the ability to read audience behavior on each platform. According to him, a data-driven approach and consistency in building communication are key to creating impactful and sustainable content.

On the same occasion, a representative from IPB Vocational School, Dr. Hudi Santoso, S.Sos., M.P., as the Head of the Digital Communication and Media Study Program, also expressed appreciation for the organization of this event. He highlighted that currently there is a lot of hoax content and misinformation that goes viral on social media, making it important for students to understand how the fact-checking process is carried out by professional media.

He also considers the material on social media strategies very relevant, as it helps students understand the mechanisms of content dissemination across various platforms. According to him, this opportunity should be maximally utilized by students to learn directly from practitioners in the media industry.
