Asri Welas Denies Being Ready to Become a Widow: Who Wants to Be Alone?

Upon arriving at the trial, Asri, wearing bright clothing, expressed her feelings with deep emotion. When asked about her readiness to become a widow, the woman known for her expressive personality could not hold back her tears.

"No, there’s no one who is ready or wants to. Who wants to be alone, but I can’t choose, right?" Asri said while holding back tears when met at the Religious Court of Depok, West Java, on Thursday (23/1/2025).

"My life is full of surprises, with bright clothes we face it, I have to stay strong to face everything," Asri added.

Meanwhile, Galiech stated that this divorce ruling is something final and there will be no appeal from him. He admitted to focusing on fulfilling his responsibilities as a father to his three children.

“No, there’s nothing, it’s fixed and final that we are divorced, there’s nothing else. From now on, I will only fulfill my responsibilities as a father. This is also beyond my expectations, I never thought I would become a widower, but Allah has given a path like this,” said Galiech.

Asri's tears flowed again when talking about her feelings during the long process leading to the divorce. She admitted to having suppressed various things before finally deciding to part ways.

“I am indeed emotional, I cry about everything. I am expressive, I feel something and I cry immediately, to stay healthy. I’m happy, I laugh, whatever I feel I express, including this. After 4-5 years, I finally dared to just end it,” Asri revealed.

She also mentioned that although this decision is bitter, she feels it is the right step for herself and her family. “Thank you everyone, I feel this is a bitter decision, what I feel but must be expressed. I have explored all of that and I feel it’s enough,” she continued.

2. Never Imagined It Would End in Divorce

Galiech added that he also never imagined his marriage would end like this. However, he accepts that their life path has indeed been determined this way.

The judge's decision to separate them was based on the principle that marriage should be a place that brings peace, not the opposite. Asri also quoted one of the judge's statements that touched her.

“If one person feels hurt continuously, as the judge said earlier, it’s better not to continue a marriage that is burdensome than to commit a sin,” Asri explained.
