Being a City Detainee, Mark Sungkar is Grateful to Still be Able to Celebrate Eid with Family

"Yes, I became the khotib, the imam (of the Eid prayer), we could gather like that again, alhamdulillah. Life is a game, life is a joke," said Mark when met at the Corruption Court, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (18/5).

1. Focus on the Afterlife

For Mark Sungkar, at this moment, he wants to focus more on preparing for his affairs in the afterlife. He surrenders all his legal problems to God. 

"The important thing is that we must prepare for the afterlife more seriously. Anyway, for now, you gather here, tomorrow we gather at the grave or maybe already buried, it could be like that," he said.

"This is life. So if you think about today's life, I leave it to Allah SWT," he continued.

2. Zaskia and Shireen Become Guarantors for Mark Sungkar

Previously, Mark Sungkar was charged with corruption in the Triathlon activities for the funding of the 2018 Asian Games. He was charged with violating Article 2 Paragraph (1) Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B of the Anti-Corruption Law as a subsidiary to Article 3 Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B and Article 9 Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B of the Anti-Corruption Law.

And in early May 2021, The Central Jakarta District Court finally granted the request of senior actor Mark Sungkar to become a city detainee.

The Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, said that there were several considerations that made Mark Sungkar become a city detainee, one of which was his two children, Shireen Sungkar and Zaskia Sungkar, as guarantors.
