Family Reveals the Will Left by Hotma Sitompul, Becomes a Legacy Because It Was Repeatedly Conveyed

The passing of senior lawyer Hotma Sitompul leaves a deep sorrow for the family who remembers him as a loving father. Although known for being strict and speaking in a high tone in the media, he never displayed such behavior at home.

One of his children, Ditho, emphasized that his father never acted harshly towards the family. According to Ditho, his father's demeanor at home was very gentle and quite different from the impression seen in public.

"Maybe when people see him in the media, he seems strict or speaks in a high tone. But for us as a family, he never once, especially me personally, hit or pinched, never," said Ditho at the mourning house in the Antasari area, South Jakarta, Thursday (17/4/2025).

For Ditho personally, Hotma Sitompul is a very warm and caring father figure. He feels he received full love from his father through the late figure. "He really spoke to me very sweetly. So for me, he is an extraordinary Dad," he said.

Ditho added that his father had carried out his duties as the head of the family wholeheartedly. Hotma Sitompul's example as a father will be a legacy that his children will always remember.

In addition, Ditho also shared the last will conveyed by his father. The message was related to Hotma Sitompul's dedication to providing legal assistance to the underprivileged.

According to Ditho, the values of struggle in the field of law are a very important legacy for the family. He feels that this message was not only conveyed once but had been repeatedly reminded by the late father.

"If the last message remains, it will surely lead to legal aid institutions because from the very beginning, even when he was young, he had already worked for LBH Jakarta and valued service for the poor and oppressed," said Ditho.

"That has indeed been conveyed to us repeatedly. So for us, it is the legacy that we must continue to uphold," he continued.

Hotma Sitompul passed away on Wednesday afternoon, around 11:15 AM WIB at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Central Jakarta. He took his last breath after undergoing intensive care due to complications from several diseases.

It is planned that Hotma Sitompul's body will be buried on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at San Diego Hills Memorial Park, Karawang. The family hopes the burial process will go smoothly and invites everyone to pray for the deceased's departure with sincerity.

"The burial is at San Diego. Leaving from here at 9, before 12. Before 12, we must already be there," concluded Ditho.
