Fariz RM Threatened with 20 Years in Prison After Being Arrested Four Times for Drugs

Kapanlagi.com - Legendary musician Fariz RM once again captures public attention after being arrested on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, in Bandung, West Java, for drug abuse. This arrest marks the fourth time for Fariz, who is also known by his real name Fariz Roestam Munaf, after previously being involved in a similar case.

The police, through the South Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit, apprehended Fariz RM at a shuttle travel location on Dipati Ukur Street, Bandung. From this arrest, the police successfully seized evidence in the form of methamphetamine and marijuana.

The South Jakarta Metro Police finally held a press release regarding the drug abuse case involving this senior musician. The arrest of Fariz RM adds to the long list of his involvement in similar cases, making it the fourth time this musician has dealt with the law due to drugs.

In a press conference held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, Fariz RM was presented wearing an orange prison uniform. In front of the public, he expressed his apologies primarily to his family and fellow musicians.

2. Apologies and Requests for Prayer

"First, I want to apologize to my family, my wife, and my children, then to my colleagues related to work and my profession, for this unexpected incident," said Fariz RM at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Thursday (20/2/2025).

Additionally, Fariz RM also requested prayers so that the legal process he is undergoing can proceed smoothly.

"Therefore, I ask for everyone’s prayers so that the legal process for the violations I have committed can go smoothly, easily, and safely. God willing, amen," he said.

3. Admits to Regretting His Actions

The musician known for the song 'Sakura' admits to regretting his actions and realizes that this is not the first time he has been involved in a drug case.

"Yes, of course, because I have stopped every time after my cases," he said.

Fariz RM was arrested in Bandung, West Java, on February 19, 2025. At the time of his arrest, he had just used methamphetamine, and urine test results showed positive for amphetamines and methamphetamines.

In addition to Fariz RM, the police also arrested ADK, who acted as an intermediary in obtaining drugs. Based on the examination results, ADK received payment between Rp100,000 and Rp200,000 for each transaction made.

"ADK was paid Rp100 - Rp200 thousand for each purchase of the evidence by FRM. And from the suspect's confession, the items belonged to suspect FRM, for personal consumption," explained the Deputy Head of the Narcotics Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Telly Areska Putra.

The police are applying multiple charges related to this case, namely Article 111 paragraph 1, Article 112 paragraph 1, and Article 114 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.

"The legal threat is 5-20 years in prison," said Telly Areska.

Previously, Fariz RM has been involved in drug cases several times. The first arrest occurred in 2007, when he was caught smoking marijuana while playing guitar at his home. Then, in 2015, he was arrested again with evidence of marijuana and heroin. Most recently, in 2018, Fariz RM was arrested again related to a drug case. Fariz RM is clearly not a new name in the legal world related to drugs. Since then, his brilliant music career has been marred by various legal issues.

6. Latest Arrest and Its Chronology

The recent arrest of Fariz RM began from the development of a drug trafficking case involving his former driver, with the initials ADK. After receiving information from the public, the police conducted an investigation and found Fariz in Bandung, who allegedly ordered goods from ADK.
