Remembering Titiek Puspa, Piyu Padi Reborn Calls Eyang Very Genius for Creating Songs

Kapanlagi.com - Titiek Puspa took her last breath on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 16:25 WIB at Medistra Hospital, Jakarta. She passed away after undergoing treatment for about 15 days due to a brain hemorrhage on the left side of her head.

The news of the senior musician's passing brings deep sorrow to the music community, including Piyu from the band Padi Reborn. Piyu reminisces about his closeness to the figure he affectionately calls Eyang.

"I was very, very close to Eyang Titiek Puspa. In the past, Padi Reborn once had a concert featuring Eyang Titiek in the song Cahaya Mata, we also practiced together," said Piyu when met in the Senayan area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (10/4/2025).

1. Feels Like Talking to Your Own Grandmother

According to him, conversations with Titiek always feel like chatting with a warm and storytelling grandmother. He often feels he learns a lot from the legendary musician.

"Yes, when talking to Eyang Titiek it always takes a long time, it really feels like talking to an elder, like chatting with our grandmother, who loves to tell all kinds of stories. So there are many things that are often passed on to us," he explained.

For Piyu, Titiek is a musician with extraordinary genius. He cannot play musical instruments, but he can compose melodies and lyrics just by relying on his memory.

"Titiek Puspa is a legend, really genius. Because she can't play musical instruments, but everything is in her head," said Piyu.

The melodies in Titiek's head are written down, then the lyrics are created, and finally, they become songs. This process is usually assisted by her late husband, who translates them into musical form.

"So the melodies are in her head, then written down, then the lyrics are made, and later translated by her late husband. Then it becomes a song. So indeed, the genius of Eyang Titiek is that," he said.
