Responding to the Request for Rp5 Million Per Song, Badai: Did the Person Ever Pay?

Kapanlagi.com - Musician and songwriter Doadibadai Hollo, commonly known as Badai, provided a direct response regarding Sammy Simorangkir's statement at the Constitutional Court (MK) hearing. As the creator of the hit songs of Kerispatih, Badai felt it necessary to clarify the information regarding the request for Rp5 million per song that had been widely discussed.

Badai clarified that the narrative that has developed needs to be viewed in its full context. The 47-year-old musician then explained that the request was verbal from the old management, not a standard rule that he personally established.

"So, friends, if it's said that Rp 5 million was requested, the person spoke verbally. Did you all watch the MK hearing? It was said verbally and that was requested by our management at that time," said Badai at Al Barkat Carpet, Fatmawati, South Jakarta, Monday (28/7/2025).

1. Have You Ever Paid?

After providing an initial explanation, Badai instead threw back a question. He questioned whether Sammy Simorangkir had actually paid a sum of money that has now become the core of the discussion.

"Now, let me just ask, did he ever pay anything to our management back then?," he said.

According to Badai, he personally never felt there was any payment requirement like that. Badai actually recalled that the policy at that time was the opposite, where Kerispatih had even prohibited Sammy from performing their songs.

"I never felt that there was a provision, that there was a payment value in that because, as far as I remember, at that time we indeed prohibited it because at that time he had already left Kerispatih," he explained.

The purpose of that prohibition, according to Badai, was to encourage Sammy to be more focused on his solo career that was being built at that time. He felt that Sammy should have been pursuing his own work after no longer being with Kerispatih.

"Well, once he has left Kerispatih, he should just continue with his solo career, right? So, there’s no need to perform our songs at that time, especially my songs," he said.

3. Strengthen the Argument

Interestingly, Storm also refers to Sammy's own statement at the Constitutional Court session where he claimed he never entertained that request. According to him, Sammy's confession at the Constitutional Court actually strengthens his argument that no transaction ever took place.

"What I saw during the Constitutional Court session was that the person in question said he never entertained it, right? He never entertained it because he felt that there was, what, a legal imbalance in that sense, right," said Storm.
