Ruben Onsu Declared Defeated in the Geprek Bensu Name Dispute Case, a New Problem Arises

Kapanlagi.com - The controversy over the Geprek Bensu trademark between Ruben Onsu and Benny Sujono has finally come to an end. After going through a fairly long trial process, the Supreme Court finally ruled in favor of Benny Sujono in this case. However, despite this fact, a new problem has emerged.

Despite winning, it turns out that the PT Ayam Geprek Benny Sujono brand has also been deleted by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property. The decision was issued through a Letter of Statement (SK) dated October 6, 2020, on behalf of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.

In essence, the SK states that the cancellation of Geprek Bensu applies not only to Ruben but also to Benny Sujono. Benny's party was surprised by the decision. Through his legal representative, Eddie Kusuma, PT Ayam Geprek Benny Sujono will take legal action.

"On behalf of our client, I will sue the Director General of Intellectual Property. We deeply regret the unprofessional and seemingly deliberate actions of the Director General in abusing his power to delete our registered trademarks," said Eddie.

According to Eddie, the Director General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights should implement the Supreme Court's decision by canceling the trademark certificates in the name of Ruben Samuel Onsu alone, not his client who has won.

"This is actually an excess of authority in deleting our registered trademarks that are valid and have legal force in the Supreme Court's decision," Eddie complained.

Meanwhile, Ruben himself has not spoken out about the loss of the trademark dispute.
