Sentenced to 6 Months in Prison and a Fine of Rp10 Million, Vanessa Angel Submits Defense

Kapanlagi.com - Vanessa Angel is facing another trial for drug abuse today, Thursday (15/10/2020) at the West Jakarta District Court. In this trial, the Public Prosecutor's Office (JPU) has demanded a 6-month prison sentence and a subsidiary fine of Rp10 million for Vanessa.

Feeling that the demand is relatively light, Vanessa Angel objected. And in the next hearing, the wife of Bibi Ardiansyah will read out her plea or defense in front of the Panel of Judges and the Public Prosecutor's Office.

"Your Honor, I will present my defense and I will do it myself," said Vanessa Angel during the trial.

1. Reasons for Submitting a Defense

Since the beginning of the trial, Vanessa Angel has indeed claimed her innocence. As she has previously stated, all the drugs she used were prescribed by a doctor. 

In addition, another reason Vanessa objected to the prosecutor's demands was because of her child. As a mother, Vanessa did not want to be separated from baby Gala. 

"I can only pray that my child and I will not be separated, no matter what, I am a mother," said Vanessa Angel with tears streaming down her face. 

2. Will Present the Defense

Arjana Bagaskara, Vanessa Angel's legal representative, emphasized that in the next hearing on October 26, 2020, his client will still present the defense. 

"We have heard the demands and we believe that what is most fair for the prosecutor, and on the 26th, we will prepare Vanessa Angel's defense or plea," said Arjana.
