Temperature of 50 Degrees, Ruben Onsu Resigned to Sunburned Skin During Umrah

The umrah worship that Ruben Onsu is currently undergoing is colored by extreme weather challenges. The presenter revealed that the temperature in Saudi Arabia has reached around 50 degrees Celsius, making worship activities feel much heavier.

Ruben said that the scorching heat even made his phone difficult to use. He felt the high temperature directly while performing Friday prayers outdoors.

"Friday prayers reached 50 (degrees). Yes, so the phone couldn't even be held. Just took it out for a few minutes, bam, it's hot, hot. So everything is just perfect, really," said Ruben Onsu when met at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Wednesday (1/7/2026).

Although he had to face very hot weather, Ruben admitted that he did not use skin protection like sunblock. He chose to enjoy the entire series of worship without worrying too much about the changes in his physical condition due to exposure to sunlight.

"So I’m just grateful, you know, our face, our skin, it all belongs to Allah. So when asked if you use sunblock? No, I don’t," said Ruben.

"I’m tired of using sunblock, I mean the weather is like this, where else can I go? So I just enjoy it until I don’t even feel it," Ruben continued.

During his time in the Holy Land, Ruben also admitted that he did not think too much about his appearance. His focus was solely on worship, so he chose to bring more ihram cloth so he wouldn’t have to wash his clothes back and forth."And I just go from my room to the Haram, room to the Haram, like that. So I’m not thinking about appearance anymore, I just change into ihram, basically, the ihram is always ready," he said.

"Here it's changed so we don't have to go back and forth to the laundry. In previous years, we had to go back and forth to the laundry, so that's why I said, 'Bi, I think I need to extend my ihram' like that," he concluded.
