The Family Reveals the Chronology of Hotma Sitompul's Passing, Complications - Had Sought Treatment in Malaysia

The departure of Hotma Sitompul leaves a deep sorrow for his family, especially his son, Ditho Sitompul. He shared stories about his father's health condition, which had been declining since last year.

According to Ditho, his father indeed experienced complications from several diseases that caused his condition to fluctuate. He mentioned that the family had made various treatment efforts, including taking him abroad.

"Mr. Hotma has indeed had complications. There are heart and kidney issues. Last October, there was a decrease in consciousness and we took him to Penang. He was still able to recover at that time," said Ditho when met at the funeral home in the Antasari area, South Jakarta, on Thursday (17/4/2025).

Although he had improved, Hotma's condition declined again at the beginning of this year. Ditho mentioned that his father was still able to return home, but had to continue regular check-ups. "In January, we were still able to take him home again, although he really had to keep his hemoglobin levels regular. Suddenly, last Tuesday, he dropped, so we took him to the hospital," he explained.

After being stable for a while, Hotma Sitompul's health condition deteriorated again on the Tuesday before his passing. Ditho recounted that at that time, the family had made every effort to accompany and support the treatment process.

Regarding the premonition before the father's departure, Ditho admitted that he did not feel anything unusual. However, he and the family had been preparing themselves for a long time due to the long treatment journey.

Although the departure felt sudden, Ditho is grateful for the time he was still given to spend with his father in the last few months. For the family, those moments together are the most precious.

Ditho also reminisced about the last message from Hotma Sitompul, which emphasized the importance of helping others. He expressed that his father held the value of legal service for the underprivileged in high regard.

"If the last message remains, it will certainly lead to legal aid institutions because from the beginning, since he was young, he has been working for LBH Jakarta and the value of service for the poor and oppressed," said Ditho.

This value has always been instilled by the father to all family members. Ditho feels that this message was not just said once or twice, but it has become the life principle of his father that has been passed down.

In addition to life messages, Ditho also remembers his father from a personal side. Although the public knows Hotma as a firm individual, for the family, he is a gentle and caring figure. In Ditho's eyes, his father is a very gentle figure in daily life. He feels very loved and appreciated by his father throughout his life.

As a child, Ditho saw that his father had fulfilled his duties as the head of the family very well. He stated that what Hotma Sitompul had done all this time was more than enough.

Hotma Sitompul passed away on Wednesday afternoon, around 11:15 AM WIB at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Central Jakarta. He took his last breath after undergoing intensive treatment due to complications from several illnesses.

It is planned that Hotma Sitompul's body will be buried on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at San Diego Hills Memorial Park, Karawang, West Java.
