Kapanlagi.com - The judges of the East Jakarta District Court sentenced Gaga Muhammad to four years and six months in prison for a traffic accident case that caused his former girlfriend at the time, Laura Anna, to suffer paralysis.
Gaga Muhammad's mother, Janariyah, who was present at the verdict hearing, stated that she had no problem with the judges' verdict.
"Yes, it's okay, it's for the best. If that's the best, then it's okay, what's important is satisfaction, right? That's what we want. So, Gaga gets justice in this world, Laura gets justice there. That's it," said Janariah after the trial at the East Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (19/1/2022).
Janariah also accepts the judge's decision of four years and six months in prison for her son.
"We will accept it. Whatever the decision, it's the judge's right. In this world, everything can be turned around, right, so relax," he said.
Janariah believes that Gaga Muhammad is sincere with the judge's decision regarding the case experienced by his child.

"God willing, he will accept it sincerely, whatever it is. He is still young, just relax. I'm just quoting his sister Laura's words that God never sleeps, if God sleeps, he will see where the truth is, just relax," said Janariah.
"We will never be hurt, if this is indeed the best punishment. And this is a very valuable lesson for Gaga that he must take the wisdom from it. So, let's just relax," continued Janariah.
In the verdict hearing, the judge panel of the East Jakarta District Court officially sentenced Gaga Muhammad to four years and six months in prison.
This 21-year-old influencer was proven guilty in a traffic accident case that caused his former girlfriend at the time, Laura Anna, to become paralyzed. This sentence is the same as the demand of the Public Prosecutor who demanded four years and six months in prison for Gaga.
"Stating that the defendant is proven legally and convincingly driving a motor vehicle due to his negligence causing serious injury to the victim. Sentencing him to 4 years and 6 months in prison, a fine of Rp. 10 million, and if not paid, will be replaced by 2 months of imprisonment," said the judge in the trial, Wednesday (19/1/2022).
Then, the panel of judges stated that there are several things that aggravate Gaga Muhammad's punishment. He expressed that Gaga Muhammad did not show remorse.
"What aggravates the defendant in the trial is that he expressed remorse and guilt, but the panel of judges did not see consistency in those statements," said the Judge.

Instead of showing remorse, Gaga was judged by the panel of judges to be blaming the victim.
"In the trial, the defendant did not show remorse, instead he tried to find elements of negligence and the consequences of the serious injuries suffered by the victim are part of the victim's own fault, namely the victim not using a seat belt," continued the panel of judges.
Not only that, the judge also mentioned that Gaga Muhammad did not provide any assistance to the victim, namely Laura Anna.
"He did not provide any financial assistance or good faith in helping the victim's family deal with the victim's paralysis, so the victim's family demanded compensation of 12.6 billion rupiah," he said.
The panel of judges continued their statement that the defendant initiated the criminal act with actions prohibited by the religion he adhered to.
"The criminal act was initiated by the act of getting drunk, consuming alcoholic beverages that are not in accordance with the defendant's religion," he added.
In addition to aggravating factors, there are several mitigating factors for Gaga Muhammad's sentence.
"The mitigating circumstances include the defendant's young age and the potential for him to improve his behavior. Considering that the defendant has already served a period of detention, the remaining detention period will be reduced by the period of detention already served," concluded the panel of judges.
