Zaskia Mecca Departed to Syria for Humanity, Haykal Kamil Urges to Stay Cautious

Kapanlagi.com - The younger sibling of actress and entrepreneur Zaskia Adya Mecca, Haykal Kamil shared a story about his sister's journey to Syria. Zaskia, the wife of renowned director Hanung Bramantyo, is carrying out a humanitarian mission in one of the refugee areas located in a conflict zone.

With great care, Zaskia visited the refugees in Syria, where children and women live in very minimal support conditions. Haykal explained that Zaskia's journey to Syria began from her growing curiosity after previously visiting Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

"So, after sister Iya left for Jordan and then to Arabia, sister Iya started to seek information and understand that there are many of our brothers and sisters in Gaza, in the West Bank, who need help," Haykal revealed in the Depok area recently.

1. Caring for Syrian Refugees

Haykal added that Zaskia is not only moved by the suffering in Palestine but also by the refugees in Syria. "There are so many refugees from Syria. Because the area has become a war zone, a combat zone. And there are many children and women, and they indeed get very little attention. Donations are primarily focused on Palestine. So, it's also sad for our brothers and sisters in Syria," said Haykal.

Together with her husband, Hanung Baramantyo, Zaskia decided to undertake a humanitarian mission there. They hope to provide support to the refugees, even if only for a short time. As a younger sibling, Haykal admitted that he had reminded his sister to be careful.

"I just told them, if you have even the slightest bad feeling, please reconsider your intention to leave, because you might be given a sign, but you won't realize it," he said.

2. Dangerous Journey

He feels that the journey to the conflict zone is very risky, especially since the situation in the area is quite dangerous. "Because this is a vulnerable area, it is a zone; if I look at it, from Israel it is very risky to attack left and right. Just a slight wrong move could lead to regrets," he said.

However, Haykal feels a bit relieved after seeing the travel schedule planned by Zaskia and her team. According to Haykal, the time spent in the refugee camp is only brief.

"From what I see in the itinerary, the stay at the refugee camp is actually very short, not even two days. The rest is during the journey and not in the conflict area," he concluded.
