Kapanlagi.com - Dewi Perssik emphasized that being a singer is not just about having a good voice. She conveyed this message after observing the duet performance of Listen and Kiara on the stage of the Final Audition of D'Academy 8, which featured the song "Cuma Satu".
"Both were entertaining, their voices were good, but I want to give some advice. Just a suggestion for Kiara, one of them, Listen, was less energetic, while Kiara was so full of energy that she went off tempo, enthusiastic. A singer is not only someone who can sing but their performance or stage attitude is important," said Dewi Perssik.
In that comment session, Dewi Perssik highlighted the alignment of performance with the song, including body movement and the accuracy of following the rhythm, as aspects that are equally important as vocal quality.

The competition in the Final Audition of D'Academy 8 is getting tougher. Coach Fildan paired Listen and Kiara on stage because he believes that both have similar characteristics of being playful and spoiled.
Their duet performed "Cuma Satu". However, the performance did not manage to earn a Standing Ovation (SO) from the panel of judges, including Dewi Perssik.
The judges still appreciated the vocal quality of both. Nevertheless, there were several notes provided, ranging from tempo control, dynamic arrangement, to stage performance.

Dewi Perssik began her comments with appreciation for the entertainment aspect of the duet by Listen and Kiara. She then emphasized the importance of stage attitude that aligns with the song, from movement to rhythm.
"People don't have to dance wildly left and right, but how to sing according to the pitch, the movements must also be in sync, the rhythm," she continued.
Dewi also provided specific notes for each participant. Kiara was praised for her playful vocal character, but she went off tempo several times. Meanwhile, Listen was considered to lack energy and was not expressive enough.
"If you (Kiara) sing, mother likes it, the playful tone is there, the only issue is that it's off tempo. If Listen sings, it seems like she hasn't eaten, it's weak, less playful, less expressive, it's a shame because she's beautiful," she said.
When Ramzi asked Dewi to choose one, she favored Kiara from the vocal side. She also noted that Listen would be stronger if she added more power during her performance.
"Actually, this is it, in terms of singing, I like Kiara. But in terms of performance, if Listen adds power, she would be better, so in conclusion, in terms of voice, I choose Kiara," she stated.
Along with Dewi Perssik, Lesti also reminded about the RAL (Rhythm and Lyrics) part. She felt that Listen and Kiara rushed into that part and didn’t give enough space to enjoy the music.
"From my perspective for Kiara and Listen, it feels like just earlier the previous participants I just said that when singing there’s the RAL part, it should be enjoyed first, listen to the music first. But earlier Kiara and Listen were both in a hurry even though there was no one waiting," said Lesti.
Lesti referred to RAL as an important moment to build the atmosphere of the song while also highlighting vocal quality. For this performance, she chose Kiara as the more outstanding participant.
Soimah also noted that the tempo at the beginning of the song was too fast, reducing the opportunity to take a breath, which affected vocal stability.
"There’s a technique to steal a breath. Because you’re rushing at the front, you don’t have the chance to steal a breath, so it breaks there," said Soimah.
In addition, Soimah reminded the participants to pay more attention to the storytelling in the song, synchronize the choreography, and enhance their teamwork so that the performance feels more enjoyable.
