Syafiq D'Academy 8 Story of the Tooth Brushing Ritual and Dorm Warmth

Kapanlagi.com - Syafiq D'Academy 8, a 19-year-old academician from Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, shares his experiences behind his preparations during the competition in Dangdut Academy 8. He talks about his unique habits before performing and life with his peers in the dorm.

"A unique habit is brushing my teeth before going on stage and also, before going on stage, I always feel the urge to go to the bathroom," said Syafiq when met at the Emtek Indosiar Studio on Tuesday (21/7/2026).

In addition to his brief preparations, Syafiq narrates the closeness that developed in the dorm with other participants during the quarantine period. Behind his well-prepared performances, Syafiq has a habit he always does just before going on stage. He makes sure to brush his teeth first.

Syafiq also admits that he often feels the urge to go to the bathroom shortly before performing, making this one of his quick routines before starting his performance.

He shared this story when he was met at the Emtek Indosiar Studio on Tuesday (21/7/2026), coinciding with the ongoing competition agenda he is participating in.

1. The Togetherness of 42 Academics in the Dormitory

During the quarantine period, Syafiq mentioned that the relationships among participants were closely intertwined. According to him, the emotional bond among the academics was strengthened by their daily togetherness.

"Thank God, the 42 of us in that dormitory have a very good relationship and the emotional bond is also very strong. If one is sad, everyone feels sad, and if one is happy, everyone feels happy," Syafiq shared.

Empathy became the key to their togetherness. With 42 people living together, the atmosphere in the dormitory was filled with support for one another in various situations.

2. Competing on Stage, One Family in the Dormitory

Syafiq emphasized that competition only occurs when performing on stage. Once they return to the dormitory, they merge as one household.

"Yes. Indeed, when on stage we are in competition, but in the dormitory, we are all one household, one family," he asserted.

This statement illustrates the clear boundary between professionalism in the competition arena and togetherness while living together during the quarantine.

3. Daily Discipline and Vocal Training that is Pursued

Living in the dormitory also made Syafiq adopt a new routine. He observes the discipline of his peers and uses it as a mirror to organize his practice habits.

"The routine I do and the reflection I see in my other friends also apply discipline, consistency, and also continue to hone and seek new skills in singing, for example, like the vocal runs, adding to the vocal range, and so on," Syafiq explained.

According to Syafiq, his current focus includes discipline, consistency, and exploring singing techniques. He pays attention to developing vocal runs and efforts to increase his vocal range to support his performances on stage.
