Addressing a Sensitive Theme, Wattpad Story 'TURN ON' to be Adapted into a Series Starring Giorgino Abraham and Clara Bernadeth

Kapanlagi.com - Vidio streaming service, in collaboration with Wattpad Studios and Screenplay Films, is ready to release an original series titled TURN ON. This romance drama, consisting of eight episodes, is adapted from Tiara Wales' Wattpad story, which has been read 16.4 million times.

Tina Arwin, Chief of Content at Vidio, stated that TURN ON is the first collaboration between Wattpad Studios and a streaming service in Indonesia. Producing original series from the writing platform will not stop at just one title.

"We are starting the collaboration with Wattpad. The advantage we gain is access to data and information about the novels written there. From that data, we sorted and obtained TURN ON. Why did we make it a series instead of a film? Because Vidio does not produce films, and the story is good enough to be a series," said Tina during a virtual press conference via Zoom on Monday (11/1).

At the beginning of the discussion, Vidio noticed that the story of TURN ON was quite sensitive because it dealt with issues related to male genitalia. However, with the help of Screenplay Films, it was packaged in a lighter way without compromising the essence of the original source.

"Initially, during the discussion, we wondered if this could become a TV series because the subject is sensitive and still considered taboo in society. But then we packaged it in an interesting way, with a different kind of romance," added Tina.

2. Contract Marriage

TURN ON stars Giorgino Abraham as Andreas and Clara Bernadeth as Maria. It tells the story of Andreas, a wealthy businessman who has problems with his genitalia. He then designs a contract marriage with Maria to protect his reputation.

This series, created by Vemmy Sagita, will start airing on January 14, 2020. It also features Erica Carlina, Andriano Jonathan, Mathias Muchus, Asri Welas, Aimee Saras, Faradina Mufti, and Sonia Alyssa. The shooting took place in September 2020 in Bali.
