Asri Welas Becomes a Strong Mother and a Woman from Bromo in 'KEJAR MIMPI, GASPOL!'

PT. Anak Bangsa Berkerasi (PT.ABB) is also building on this momentum by producing a comedy-drama genre film, CHASE YOUR DREAMS, GASPOL! Wrapped in comedy, CHASE YOUR DREAMS, GASPOL! will highlight a mother's struggle to realize her dreams.

"Raising the theme of a single mother who is afraid to dream and develop her passion for writing, because she considers her current task to only be realizing her daughter's dreams," explained Albest Suyipto during the film's celebration as written in the press release received by KapanLagi.

As for the screenplay of this film, Tyas handed it over to visionary comedian Arie Kriting and Abdur Arsyad, who have produced many comedy-drama stories.

"The strong screenplay written by Arie Kriting and Abdur Arsyad raises drama and comedy in a simple storyline. However, there are many implied stories in it that are 'close' to our daily lives," he explained.

Tyas continued that this strong screenplay makes it easier for Hastobroto to direct the extraordinary cast, such as Asri Welas, Tora Sudiro, and Michelle Ziudith.

"Especially with the support of several comedian actors and YouTubers such as Erick Estrada, Arief Alfiansyah, Nopek Novian, Marwoto, and Arief Didu," he concluded.

1. Encouraging Mothers

Through this film, Allbest aims to encourage women, especially mothers, to pursue their dreams regardless of the circumstances they face. Allbest continued, stating that many mothers forget their dreams after starting a family and having children, “This is very relevant to most mothers today,” she emphasized.

In the same location, PT. ABB Producer, Tyas Abiyoga, explained that this film is different from most other family drama films. This film tells the story of the lives of Bromo women who, despite their limitations, do work that is usually done by men to achieve their daughter's dreams. This mother also had to set aside her own dreams.

“We also try to showcase the visual of Bromo and its community, which has not been widely shown in feature films. Bromo women represent strong women who, despite their limitations, continue to work for their families,” he explained.

Bromo is often used as a setting in Indonesian films. Some of them are PASIR BERBISIK, TENDANGAN DARI LANGIT, and KULARI KE PANTAI. 

3. Attracting the PENCIL BRIDGE Team

To make it an interesting spectacle, Tyas collaborated once again with director Hastobroto, who had previously worked with her on the film PENCIL BRIDGE.

“Working again with Mas Hasto, and to capture the beauty of Bromo, we had Asep Kalila as the Director of Photography. Kang Asep will be able to capture the natural beauty of Bromo with unusual images,” she added.

As for the script of this film, Tyas entrusted it to visionary comedian Arie Kriting and Abdur Arsyad, who have produced many comedy-drama stories.
