Baim Wong Develops Comedy Film 'MINAL AIDIN MOHON MAAF MINTA RIZKI', Starring Prilly Latuconsina - Fadil Jaidi

Kapanlagi.com - Actor and director Baim Wong officially introduced his latest feature film titled MINAL AIDIN MOHON MAAF MINTA RIZKI. Produced by Tiger Wong Entertainment, this project marks Baim's first comedy film after previously successfully directing horror, family drama, and thriller genres.

Baim expressed optimism about the film's outcome after witnessing the reading process of the cast firsthand. According to him, the cast members involved possess acting qualities that can bring each character in the story to life.

"I am satisfied. From the beginning, I have seen the cast is incredibly strong. After participating in the reading process, the results have truly made me even more confident that this film will be something special," said Baim Wong when met at his office in the Bintaro area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/7/2026).

Although packaged as a comedy, Baim emphasized that this film still carries a strong message. He intentionally raised social issues that he considers quite sensitive, yet relevant to people's lives, hoping it can serve as a reflection for the audience.

"In every film, I always have a message that I want to convey. Previously, I talked a lot about family because I want people to feel the importance of family and time together. Now there is one discussion that I think is quite risky, but it really needs to be raised because it is happening in society," he explained.

1. Not Writing Alone

Unlike previous projects, this time Baim did not write the film's script himself. He entrusted the screenplay to young writer Cassandra Mawardi after being immediately captivated by the story that had been prepared since 2024.

"I immediately said, 'This is really good. Why hasn’t it been made into a film?' At first, I was preparing another project, but I eventually canceled it because I felt this story was much more interesting. My contribution to the script is probably only about 10 percent. The rest is truly Cassandra Mawardi's work," he revealed.

The film MINAL AIDIN MOHON MAAF MINTA RIZKI stars Prilly Latuconsina as the main character named Rizki, alongside Lukman Sardi, Sarah Sechan, and a host of other cross-generational actors, including Fadil Jaidi. Baim emphasized that all the actors were selected based on their acting abilities and suitability for the characters, not merely because of their popularity.

"The reading results of the actors are very credible and match the characters we are looking for. I am also an actor, so I know who is most suitable to portray each character. What I am looking for is not just a big name, but an actor who can bring their character to life," he said.

3. Challenges Faced by Baim Wong

The shooting process is scheduled to last for one month, taking place in Jakarta, Muara Angke, and Makassar, South Sulawesi. Baim acknowledged that working on a comedy film presents its own challenges because it requires maintaining a balance between the script and the actors' improvisation so that the humor feels natural.

"If you are too fixated on the script, sometimes the result is not funny. Comedy has to feel natural. The dialogue, expressions, and chemistry between the actors must really come alive. That is the biggest challenge in this film," concluded Baim.
