Kapanlagi.com - Last Thursday night (19/8/2021), Tompi was involved in a discussion about his new film titled SELESAI on Twitter. One of the responses to a questioner who called his work sexist sparked controversy, making the musician's name a trending topic.
When contacted by KapanLagi.com, Tompi revealed that he has not seen the impact of his statement. However, he explained that what was presented in the scene was not sexist. Instead, it reflects that the character's actions do exist.
As known, the scene in question is when the character Bambang (played by Imam Darto) does something inappropriate while looking at Ayu (played by Ariel Tatum) who is making a phone call.
"Last night, there was a question about whether this film is sexist. If someone accuses this film of being sexist, it means they have a dislike for a certain gender. If I am sexist towards women, I would put women in an uncomfortable position, I would demean them, that's the direction. I asked, 'Where is the sexism?' and he said the scene where Bambang peeks and then does inappropriate actions." Where is the sexiness? What the scene wants to show is that there is immoral behavior like that," said Tompi.
"What I want to emphasize is that not everyone is as bad as them. There are those who are bastards, there are those who are depraved. So the tendency is not towards harassment, in this case Ariel. If I wanted to demean someone, it wouldn't be in this context, but I would expose them sexually and ask them to get naked if necessary. But it's not going there," added the musician.

Tompi's response to the film SELESAI being called sexist has been seen as him not being able to distinguish between sexy and sexist. Commenting on this, the man who is also a cosmetic surgeon chose to ignore it.
"And they say that my explanation doesn't understand the difference between sexist and sexy. Well, it's up to you. It's difficult to talk when the foundation of thinking is different. I see that what's happening is that they're forcing me and my team to think in their way. It doesn't fit and it won't fit because our backgrounds are different," explained Tompi.
Nevertheless, Tompi is happy to participate in discussions about his new film. Seeing some people agree and disagree with his perspective is considered normal.
"Hopefully, they become smarter. Until now, no one has ever contradicted what they said, and suddenly someone dares to contradict. It's good, there's a balance, there's a process of discussion, not just blindly following. Agreeing or disagreeing is normal. If there are disagreements, I'm fine with it, it's okay. That's where you can see who is mature and who is childish. Who understands the material, who pretends to know," said the singer of the song Sedari Dulu.

Tompi brings up the issue of infidelity because it is always a hot topic of discussion on social media. There will be two sides that eventually develop in society, but most of them side with the legitimate wife.
"News about the other woman (pelakor) is currently active, right? What if the other woman is right? This is a matter of perspective. The other woman feels like a savior to the husband's crumbling marriage, while the wife feels that the marriage is falling apart because of the other woman. Now, which side should we take?" said Tompi.
"We are always trapped in the general perspective. But does what is general always apply? Not necessarily. There is always cause and effect," added the man who is also a cosmetic surgeon.
FINISHED tells the story of Ayu who wants a divorce after finding out about her husband's affair. However, the situation becomes complicated when the in-laws suddenly come to the house and ask for the presence of a grandchild.
