Director Monty Tiwa describes the latest version of the film 'MENDADAK DANGDUT' as a very personal and meaningful work in his life and career journey. Monty admits that this project feels like a 'homecoming' for him, as well as a proof that the story of dangdut is still relevant and powerful enough to be brought to the big screen.
"This is very personal, because it serves as proof. I left my previous job for the first time, really trying my luck as a freelance employee," he said when met in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta on Tuesday (22/4/2025).
According to Monty, in 2006 when this film was first made, he was going through a crucial time. That journey became his foundation as a filmmaker. "Yes, in the midst of fear, 'MENDADAK DANGDUT' was there. So personally, the story is very sentimental," he explained.
