This horror film raises an urban legend from Magelang, Central Java, which was popular in the 1980s and 1990s. Anggy explains that Indonesia has a wealth of folklore that is very diverse and rich in mystical stories.
"Our nation is actually very rich in folklore," said Anggy at a press conference at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Friday (16/8/2024).

Not just horror, 'KROMOLEO ' also incorporates deep social issues, especially related to the dark history of the Indonesian nation. This film invites the audience to not forget the past, particularly concerning the human rights violations (HAM) that have occurred in the homeland.
"KROMOLEO raises a very important social issue, we must not forget history. There have been too many human rights violations and dark moments in our history," said Anggy Umbara.
Interestingly, Anggy also applies unique filming techniques in this film. All scenes are shot without using a tripod, only with bare hands, creating a more realistic and raw visual impression. This technique is deliberately chosen to enhance the intensity and energy of the film.
"This film is very different from my other works, there is no commercial aspect here, everything is raw, handheld. The energy is completely different," he explained.
The film 'KROMOLEO' is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 22, 2024. Starring talented actors and actresses such as Ratu Sofya, Tio Pakusadewo, Abun Sungkar, Cornelio Sunny, Aline Fauziah, Rukman Rosadi, Totos Rasiti, Vonny Anggraini, and Dayu Wijanto, this film is sure to provide a different and meaningful horror experience for its audience.
