Shooting Delayed for 1.5 Years and Title Changed, Here's the Struggle of Releasing the Movie 'CINTA BETE' in Theaters

Kapanlagi.com - The movie titled CINTA BETE is ready to be released in Indonesian theaters starting from November 18th. To reach the release stage, apparently there were many obstacles that colored the romance drama by Roy Lolang.

This was revealed by Djenar Maesa Ayu as one of the cast members who admitted to being pessimistic that the filming of the movie could continue. Because before being contacted again by Leni Lolang as the producer, this project had been halted for one and a half years.

"For me, the release is a miracle because the production of this film was halted for one and a half years. I know exactly how the struggle of the mother producer to find funding, to find everything so that this film could start filming soon. In my heart, I honestly doubted it would happen. When I was contacted again, I was the one who had taken care of it because of the pandemic, and I was touched," said Djenar when met at Epicentrum XXI, Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, last Friday.

1. Title Considered Very Festival

After filming was completed in November 2020, another issue arose regarding the use of the title. The use of the title HALF FULL MOON apparently was considered as a film festival. However, Leni Lolang did not intend it that way.

"Indeed, it is not easy to choose a film title. Initially HALF FULL MOON, as time went by, eighty percent of people said 'Is this a film festival?'. While I, as the producer, didn't want this film to be just a festival, I wanted the film to speak to the community, to have a conversation, and to have a vision that people should know this story. If it's a festival, it's only within that circle. This is not a film festival," said Leni on the same occasion.

After various considerations, it was agreed to use the title LOVE BORED. "That's how heavy the title HALF FULL MOON is. Finally, we chose several titles and LOVE BORED became the title. From the beginning, we anticipated that people in Jakarta would say it's love bored. That was already considered from the start. From here, we invite the audience not to judge first, watch it first and then know," concluded Leni.

2. Becoming a Pastor

CINTA BETE tells the story of a girl named Bete Kaebauk who has had a crush on her friend named Emilio since junior high school. Although they both have feelings for each other, unfortunately Emilio chooses to go to seminary school and be trained to become a pastor.

This film stars Daniella Tumiwa and Hana Malasan as teenage and adult Bete, and Adam Farrel and Marthino Lio as young and adult Emilio. It is also joined by Djenar Maesa Ayu, Otig Pakis, and Yoga Pratama.
