Trailer and Poster for FOUFO Released, Bayu Skak Presents a Sci-Fi Comedy in Madurese Language

Kapanlagi.com - The film FOUFO officially released its trailer and poster ahead of its screening in Indonesian cinemas on July 9, 2026. This latest film directed by Bayu Skak brings a sci-fi comedy genre with a story about a Madurese family who encounters aliens amidst a mother's struggle to fulfill her wish to go on pilgrimage.

In the released trailer, the story centers around Muslim, a character played by Tretan Muslim. He is depicted as a child who becomes the backbone of the family by working as a scrap metal collector. In the midst of limited economic conditions, Muslim tries to send his mother, Saiqonah, to the Holy Land.

1. An Alien Named Foufo Changes Muslim's Life Path

Muslim's journey becomes more complicated when an alien from a foreign planet lands on Earth. The alien, later called Foufo, needs the Muslim family's help to return to its mothership.

At the same time, Muslim is also faced with the approaching deadline for paying for his mother's pilgrimage departure. This conflict makes Foufo not only showcase elements of comedy and sci-fi but also brings family drama about a child's love for their mother.

2. Bayu Skak Steps Out of His Comfort Zone Through the Madurese Language

Bayu Skak mentioned that the idea for this film originated from his desire to try something new outside of the style that has always been associated with him. Previously, Bayu was known for his comedy using the Javanese language, FOUFO is his first film that uses the Madurese language.

"Everyone has experiences and feelings about what it’s like to love our mothers and the desire to make the people we love most in this world, which is our mothers, happy. That feeling is what we want to present in this film," said Bayu Skak.

3. Tretan Muslim Becomes the Main Actor, FOUFO Involves Madurese Talent

The film Foufo also marks Tretan Muslim's debut as the main actor in a feature film. In this film, Tretan is challenged to portray a more serious side, different from the comedic character that has always been associated with him.

Additionally, this film is said to bring a fresh perspective through the use of the Madurese language, with nearly 80 percent of the cast being of Madurese descent and non-actors, as well as an open casting process that attracted 2,500 participants. Foufo is produced by Skak Studios and Sinemart, and stars Tretan Muslim, Habib Jafar, Ade 'Bibier' Kurniyawan, Benidictus Siregar, Bambang Ceper, Siti Kam, Fuad Sasmita, Sangat Mahendra, Anggun Dwi, Ina Pogang, Rifqy Abdillah, Kiano, and Hari Otong.
