XXI Cinema Network in DKI Jakarta Area Starts Operating, Audience Reveals Strict Health Protocols

Kapanlagi.com - On October 21, CGV Cinemas and Cinepolis cinema networks in the DKI Jakarta area resumed operations after seven months of closure due to the Covid pandemic. This is in contrast to the XXI cinema network which chose to remain closed because the audience capacity was only 25%.

However, after the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government relaxed the capacity to 50%, XXI saw a positive opportunity. They opened 16 outlets starting from Monday (16/11/2020). For now, it is only for screenings in regular studios, not The Premiere or IMAX.

1. Such Strict Health Protocols

One moviegoer named Josep Sibuea took the opportunity to watch a movie during the first week of opening in Jakarta. He revealed that the health protocols were very strict. This made him feel comfortable while watching KURSK at Pondok Indah 2 XXI.

"Strict health protocols, even wearing masks, temperature checks, and there is hand sanitizer. The ticket tearing service has also changed. Now we tear the tickets ourselves and put them in the basket held by the staff at the studio entrance," he explained to Kapanlagi.com.

2. Audience Still Few

The reopening of XXI cinema network in DKI Jakarta was announced on Monday morning on their official Instagram. However, according to Josep, it doesn't have much influence on the number of audience which is still low.

"I watched with only eight people, in my opinion because they are still afraid. The announcement doesn't guarantee whether it will be crowded or not. Maybe it's because I watched in the afternoon and this is an old movie," said Josep.

According to 21cineplex.com, there are ten movie titles being screened evenly in the DKI Jakarta area. Three of them are reruns of horror genre movies by Indonesian filmmakers, namely AKU TAHU KAPAN KAMU MATI, KAJENG KLIWON, and PENGABDI SETAN by Joko Anwar.
