After Six Years of Weighing, Perunggu Finally Leaves the Office Job

Kapanlagi.com - The band Perunggu has finally made a significant decision in their career journey. After years of juggling office jobs while making music, all its members are now officially full-time musicians.

This decision did not come quickly. Maul, Ildo, and Adam admit it took them six years to be truly sure about leaving their steady jobs. For them, this step had to be taken together because from the beginning, Perunggu was built as a team.

"The essence is that it feels like a festering sore for the three of us. So the point is that in order to resign, it really has to be all three of us; it can't just be one," Maul said when met in the Fatmawati area of South Jakarta recently.

1. Joint Commitment Since the Beginning Forming the Band

Maul explained that the decision to resign could not be made individually. The three members agreed that every major step related to the future of Perunggu must be decided together. Therefore, they only dared to leave their jobs when all members felt they were at the same readiness point.

This decision became one form of their commitment to maintaining the journey of Perunggu as a band that is built and run together.

2. Family Remains the Top Priority

Ildo revealed that from the beginning, Perunggu has had principles that they always uphold. In the order of life priorities, family occupies the first position, office work is in the second position, while musical activities are in the third position.

However, the development of Perunggu in recent years has made the music schedule increasingly packed, which has started to reduce time spent with family.

"Our principle from the start of being in a band is number one family, number two office work, number three is being in a band. Until last year, it turned out that number three started to rise and even disturbed number one," said Ildo.

This situation made them have to make a choice. The three of them eventually agreed to let go of their permanent jobs in order to keep family as the top priority. "Which one do you want to choose? Family or office work? Well, we let go of the office work. Family remains number one," Ildo asserted.

3. Six Years of Consideration

Although the decision seems bold, Ildo emphasized that the process took a very long time. They did not want to take a big step without considering the various consequences they would face.

In addition to discussions among the three of them, the decision was also made after receiving approval from each of their families. "That is not a decision we made lightly or haphazardly. With approval and full consideration. We’ve been in the band since 2019, and we only dared to resign in 2025. So it took us six years to think about it," he concluded.
