Kapanlagi.com - In the cold air and fog enveloping Mount Bromo, Monita Tahalea dazzled at the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo held on Friday, July 25, 2025. Performing 13 songs, mostly from her new album, Monita delighted the ears of the audience present that night.
The singer, who recently launched her new album, opened her performance at the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo with the song Solenna, which is from her new album. The cold air, which reached 15 degrees that night, instantly warmed up as the 38-year-old singer began to sing her song.
"Hi, this is my third time here. I'm happy to meet all of you. I am Monita Tahalea," said Monita, greeting the audience of Al Jazziyah, the name for the audience at BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo.

It’s already the third time performing in Bromo, but Monita still feels very happy. "The experience of playing here is always enjoyable. It keeps me grounded. The music blends with nature; it feels like the frequency just connects. I can perform my songs that are mostly inspired by God's creations. So when it sounded earlier like, ah, this is indeed the right place to present the special show Merona. I’m really happy," said Monita after her performance.
Monita is also very happy because she can perform songs from her new album, Merona. This album has just been released by Monita after being worked on for 5 years.
"This is the first time at Jazz Gunung that there is a special show and I was allowed to perform my entire new album. I’m definitely very happy, feeling it a lot. But there’s a feeling like, oh, all the songs are new. Later, those who listen might be like, it’s already cold, they don’t know the songs, how will it be. But I’m very grateful that today everyone came, and they are all very enthusiastic, attentive, and appreciative too," she said.

After performing at the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo, Monita was flooded with birthday wishes from the audience. The singer, born on July 21, immediately smiled and thanked all the attendees.
Monita then entertained requests from the audience for photos together. She also gave warm hugs to her fans who had traveled far to Bromo to watch her special performance.
"Actually, this feels like a gift. When I found out the performance was on the 25th, close to (my birthday). We were also rehearsing at that time, so we celebrated together with friends. I am very grateful. Just full of gratitude (on my birthday)," said Monita with a big smile.

Monita also shared her opinion on the hot topic in the jazz music world, which is the criticism from several musicians regarding jazz festivals that are dominated by performers from other genres. According to this Indonesian Idol Season 2 alum, the discussion serves as a platform to open new horizons.
"What was discussed yesterday actually opens up new horizons. People are becoming more aware and need to be more intentional in organizing festivals. The performers too, not just the festival organizers. The performers also become more aware. If we are invited to an event that features a specific genre, it means we also have to adjust accordingly. So, I think this is a good discussion because it raises awareness for everyone. There must be integrity in creating something, both from the organizers and the performers. I think this is a good thing because in the end, everyone becomes aware, right?" she emphasized.
The coolness of Bromo became the place for Monita to launch her album 'Merona' to all her fans. Her hard work over 5 years to create this album paid off sweetly with the enthusiasm of her fans to listen to her melodious songs.
