Skastra Ready to Go Global, Holds Japan Tour 2026 - Vinyl Release 'Metanoia'

Kapanlagi.com - The Indonesian ska band, Skastra, officially announced a major agenda titled "Skastra Japan Tour 2026". This international tour series is scheduled to take place next July, targeting four performance spots in three major cities: Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo.

This first Japan tour for Skastra is part of the celebration of the release of their iconic album titled "Metanoia" in the format of a 12-inch vinyl record. This step marks a crucial momentum for the band to strengthen their position in the international music scene as well as a form of appreciation for the influence of Japanese music.

"At first, I never imagined it would be released or that we could perform in Japan. The writing on the cover is indeed a manifestation of Skastra. It turns out that now it has come true. That's how the universe works," said Fazrin 'Adin' Mustakin, the guitarist of Skastra, when met in East Jakarta on Friday (29/05/2026).

Adin's statement refers to the album cover design of Metanoia, which features an illustration of a man playing guitar inside a train carriage with running text that says 'Next Stop: Japan'. The manifestation, which was initially considered mere decoration, has now truly become a reality for the ska unit that has been active for eight years.

2. Warm Greetings from Abroad

The Metanoia album was actually released on December 1, 2023, as a symbol of Skastra's transition in their musical journey. The nine songs in the album received a warm welcome from music lovers abroad, especially in Japan, prompting Skastra to distribute their work even more widely.

"The writing on the cover is indeed a manifestation of Skastra. It turns out it has come true now. That's how the universe works," said Adin.

3. Collaboration with Tokyo Independent Label

In this 12-inch vinyl release project, Skastra collaborates again with the Tokyo-based independent label, Big Romantic Records. This album contains ten selected songs, including "Oh Night", "Fantasia", "Heavy Rain", "Explorer", "Last Port", "Sun", "Laughter", "Joy", "One Morning", and "Endorphin".

Among those songs, the track titled "Heavy Rain" has been chosen as the main single to provide an authentic audio experience in vinyl format. Skastra aims to deliver a different warmth of sound to its loyal listeners, both in Indonesia and abroad.

"The 2026 Japan tour and the release of the 12-inch Metanoia vinyl are not just celebrating Skastra's musical journey," explained Skastra's vocalist, Alduri Asfirna, or commonly known as Ina.

5. Cultural Mission Behind the Tour

Furthermore, Ina explained the cultural mission behind this tour. According to her, their journey to Japan has a long-term goal for the independent music community.

"But it also strengthens the cultural bridge between the independent music communities in Indonesia and Japan," Ina emphasized.

6. Hold Showcase in Jakarta

Before heading to Japan, the band consisting of Ina, Ibrahim, Raga, Adi, Adin, Hanung, and Taufiq will hold a showcase in Jakarta in June. Additionally, they also plan to release the album Metanoia in Compact Disc (CD) format after completing their tour series in Japan later.
