Bontang City Carnival Presents the Attraction of Cultural Wealth in an Inclusive City

“Natural resources will eventually run out. We should start thinking about what happens after the natural resources are depleted. Therefore, the tourism sector must be developed from now on,” said Basri Rase after the Bontang City Carnival event on Saturday (21/10/2023).

Prove that Bontang is Open to Many Things

The celebration of Bontang City's Anniversary is always colored by various regular festivals, one of which is the Bontang City Carnival. This event is not only a cultural parade, but also has a mission to introduce the tourist attractions within it.

The carnival activities also present a diverse cultural image as a sign that Bontang is an inclusive city. Its heterogeneous population is the main asset if Bontang is open in many ways.

“Coincidentally, Bontang is an industrial city that attracts many workers. Certainly all ethnic groups are here and depicted in this Bontang City Carnival. All ethnic groups are present, from Aceh to Papua," said Basri.

Bontang also has a series of popular tourist destinations that have their own attractions. For example, Kampung Malahing, Pulau Beras Basah, Bontang Kuala, and many more. In addition to various attractive spots, the existing cultural richness can also be a tourist attraction. Cultural celebrations carried out by each ethnic group are an interesting highlight that should not be missed.

The local government continues to make various efforts to improve the tourism sector, both in terms of destinations and businesses. Training, guidance for business sector players, as well as physical development of tourist attractions and other activities in the tourism sector will continue to be carried out.
