Phone Snatcher Arrested in Bushes, Malang

Kapanlagi.com - Didik Supriadi (35) perpetrator of robbery in Malang Regency was successfully captured while hiding in a bush on the edge of a cliff. The perpetrator attempted to escape from the victim who tried to defend his cellphone.

"The victim chased the perpetrator of this robbery. Then the perpetrator tried to escape to the rice field area and fell into the cliff," said Iptu Ahmad Taufik, Head of Public Relations Section of Malang Police, Sunday (3/4).

Armed with this information, the police conducted a search by scouring the surrounding area. The perpetrator was found hiding in the bushes of the cliff and immediately arrested.

Previously viral on social media, a woman became a victim of robbery when passing through Bureng Karangsuko Street, Pagelaran, Malang Regency. At the time of the incident, on Saturday (2/4) night, the location was deserted.

"Evidence in the form of the perpetrator's motorcycle and the victim's cellphone were found at the bottom of the river. The perpetrator and the evidence were secured to the Pagelaran Police Station," explained Taufik.

The victim was cornered by the perpetrator from the left while trying to take back the cellphone on the motorcycle dashboard he was riding. The victim tried to defend his cellphone until there was a tug-of-war with the perpetrator. However, the victim lost balance and fell onto the roadside, while the cellphone was successfully taken by the perpetrator.

"The perpetrator is suspected to have been following the victim since the Dampit Market intersection. When they were at the scene, which was deserted, the perpetrator immediately acted by cornering the victim," he explained.
