Kapanlagi.com - An unusual sight was seen at the Senayan Parliament complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/9/2025). A lineup of renowned content creators such as Jerome Polin, Andovi da Lopez, and Fathia Izzati were present not to create content, but for a serious mission.
They did not come alone. Together with student representatives, these public figures officially visited the "people's house" to deliver a letter of demands that they called '17+8 People's Demands'. This action drew attention as it proved that their voices were not only loud in the virtual world.
Their arrival was a response to a heartbreaking tragedy that befell a protester named Affan Kurniawan. Affan's death in a previous demonstration became a catalyst for them to demand accountability and concrete change from their representatives.
The demands they brought were also very crucial. Some of the main points include urging the Parliament to immediately form an independent investigation team regarding the death of Affan and other victims, stopping military involvement in civilian security, and releasing detained demonstrators.

This audience was received directly by several council members, including Kawendra Lukistian, Andre Rosiade, and senior actress who is now a politician, Rieke Diah Pitaloka. They listened carefully to every aspiration presented.
Kawendra Lukistian, who met directly with the representatives, ensured that the DPR would not remain silent. He promised to follow up on all the demands that had been officially presented up to the leadership level.
"I express my deep condolences for the passing of Affan Kurniawan and other victims in yesterday's action. The aspirations conveyed by these friends will be followed up, we will present them to the leadership, and we will take concrete action. Our duty is to ensure that the voice of the people does not just disappear," said Kawendra.

The commitment was not only expressed in front of the masses. Through his personal social media account, Kawendra reaffirmed his seriousness in advocating for these aspirations within the parliament.
"What has become the aspirations and demands of our friends has certainly become a concern for the leaders and for us in the Parliament as well. We will work together to oversee all of this. Once again, we express our deepest gratitude, and our apologies for any shortcomings on our part in the Indonesian House of Representatives," he wrote.
This event is hoped to serve as an important reminder for all parties that the expression of opinions in public must be guaranteed safety and should no longer result in loss of life.
