Gaga Muhammad undergoes a plea reading or defense note hearing at the East Jakarta District Court (10/1/2022). In the hearing, he delivered an open letter titled "My Life Between the Power of Love and Law."
The letter is addressed to those with closed hearts, those who have been hurt and spread slander, to those with open hearts, and to fellow media friends. Gaga appeared teary-eyed as he read the open letter through the following pictures.
Gaga admits that the accident on December 8, 2019, was her fault. She admits that both she and the late Laura Anna regret causing harm to many parties and having to bear the consequences.
However, without intending to shift blame to others, Gaga said that Laura's paralysis was not solely due to her negligence because there were other parties who were also negligent in this tragedy.
As Laura Anna's ex-boyfriend, Gaga feels like she has been imprisoned since the accident on December 8, 2019. She witnessed her loved one lying sick as a result of the tragedy.
She regrets even more because she and her family are currently in a severely distressed economic condition.
On September 20, 2021, despite undergoing legal proceedings, Gaga still communicates well with Laura through her attention in celebrating the victim's birthday. Gaga sent a flower wreath.
Gaga mentioned that she believes that what caused her to get involved in legal trouble was not the will of the late Laura but the will of someone else.
Furthermore, Gaga expressed her sadness over the legal process influenced by public opinions that may not necessarily be true. She added that the malicious opinions built by those who are hurt lead to biased opinions and defamation.
Expressing her objection, Gaga feels burdened by the demand for 4 years and 6 months of imprisonment. She mentioned that there are many similar accident cases that do not receive such high demands.
Finally, Gaga expressed her gratitude and wrote a message, "Please hate me but don't let your hatred cause you to lose faith and no longer believe that disasters are the fate of Allah SWT."
This arrest adds to the long list of celebrities involved in legal cases related to drug abuse.
